250% of iron is the upper limit of 45 mg

100% of iron RDA means 18 mg - that's what most women need. Some women need 27 mg - that's 150%. Many men though only need 8 mg, so that's achieved by a report of 45%. But the safe limit for adults is only 45 mg which is 250% of the 18 mg. So do not go over 250%. I looked back over 90 days and saw that I had around 260% twice - not safe.

Your body doesn't absorb all the iron you consume. I'll post an article that explains iron absorption and the different kinds of iron.

But it doesn't appear that the absorption rate changes the recommended intake or the upper limit.0
