Metabolic

metabolic damage? Is this a myth? I'm thinking of following 900 cals net after exercise 6days a week and then one day as a treat day as 3000 calories . That way for over the week it's adds up to 8400 the same as what 1200 calories daily would be . People are saying this would cause metabolic damage ? But I think it could be good for me ?

Why would you do that though? Why not just average the 8400 over 7 days? Just asking.
  • Because I'm very busy through the week and eating low calories doesn't bother me. But I like to eat out or have alcohol or treats at wknds so it would be easier for me
  • I'm curious also as to how this would effect my metabolism. First, I believe metabolic damage does occur on a VLCD; I'm not disputing that. Consider that I am eating at a healthy deficit daily. Is it ok for me to eat lower than my healthy deficit 5 days a week and then make up those calories on the weekend? Will metabolic damage occur during those days I eat low even if I average out to a healthy deficit by the weekend? I do 20/4 IF so it would be easy for me to lower my calories through the week and, like the OP, I would love to have a higher calorie day or two on the weekend. I would never consider this if there is any detriment in doing so. IF is working so well for me that I don't want anything to jeopardize the benefits I've realized.
