I ran 3 miles last night! I just started running again 5 days ago, after smoking for a year and not doing much physical activity until last week. ^_^ It took 40 minutes, but I'm going to be shaving down the time. I'm signing up for my local ColorMeRad 5K race tomorrow, which is 7 weeks away. I'm so excited!

That is awesome! I smoked for a long time and now I run; sometimes I find it hard to believe I used to be a pack a day smoker

I too, used to smoke, I was a very heavy smoker and although I used to run on my treadmill at the time, I was only able to do intervals, purely because I could not run for more than three minutes without gasping for breath!

When I gave up, within a few days I was suddenly able to run for about five minutes and every training session improved thereafter.

WTG to the OP it is a great feeling!!

    Thank you!
I've been smoking off and on for the last 5.5 years. I'm confident that running again will help me stay quit!

That it will! As a former smoker too, I never really quit until I finally decided I couldn't be both a runner and a smoker at the same time. I chose running.
