I can't believe I've just done this...

On Tuesday I forced myself to go out running in the rain, as my theory was that if I could get used to that, nothing else could be as bad.
As it happened, I discovered that running in the rain is much easier for me, and managed 2km without stopping for the first time.
Today, I must have been the only person in my town sitting waiting at the window for the heavy rain to turn up - when it did, I was straight out there. And this time, I did three (or by the GPS watch, 3.37km to be exact!! I kept going because I didn't want to be under!!!!). It took about 27 minutes.
I felt like I could potentially have reached four, but I am still breaking in a new pair of running shoes to actual running and my lower legs are still questioning why they're being twisted around by a fraction of an inch. In the interests of being able to walk in work tomorrow, I thought I had better not push it...
I thought I was happy on Tuesday...now I'm 60% there towards my first goal of 5km!!! Thanks to all my cheerleaders (it was me celebrating running for all of two minutes a few weeks ago ).

Well, if I didn't believe it yesterday...
...I just went out and did it again. Three minutes quicker.
If I had one message for anyone out there - disengage your brain. The saying, "Your mind will give up before your body ever does" is absolutely true!!!
(Thanks to the person who advised me to never do less than 3km again, because now I know I can do it LOL!)0 -

I LOVE running in the rain! Since I've started (mid-May), we've had exactly two rainy days here - but I live in the Pacific Northwest, and know I'll get all the rain I could possibly want in another few months!0

I love to run in the rain, but I'm always scared I'm going to slip on the pavement! Congrats!0

I am not a runner but I love the rain. The whole idea of a terrific storm and light show makes me happy and the sound of the rain on the roof of the cottage is soothing to me. To all you runners out there enjoying yourselves in the rain, who knew you were having such a good time! Keep up your efforts and have fun, fun, fun on your run!0

I ran in the rain tonight. I figured it couldn't be worse than running in 90% humidity. I was right; it wasn't. In fact, it was a little bit more pleasant!0

I had the fortunate experience of running in the rain in beautiful Wisconsin, among gorgeous trees, on a gravel road. It was truly liberating!!!0 -

I love running in the rain at 11:30 @ night to be exact XD
Only downside is that I live in the lightning capitol of the world but it makes me run faster when I hear that thunder above me
keep up the good work!0 -
Running in the rain sounds fun! I'm already soaking wet when I run anyways, might as well add some inclement weather to make you feel more bad *kitten*, haha!
Don't see a whole lot of rainy days in san diego, however :glasses:0 -
:drinker: how cute! i love it.. yeah running in the rain is awesome! almost makes you feel like a kid too.. hehe .. like you partly are annoyed cuz your wet and your like great?!?!?! but then its like forget it who cares and its a "free-ing" feeling almost and then the endorphin rush from the running! oh yaeh... you feel amazing!0

WELL DONE!!! I was a newbie runner at the beginning of the year and its SUCH a proud moment when you realise you can actually do it!!! Im addicted to the feeling of running a teeny bit further every week now!
Yep - never do less than 3k again (until youre on your tapering week for your first race...!)
I also love running in the rain, as long as I have a hat on to keep the rain out of my eyes!
Its always good to build up slowly because our cardiovascular system improves quicker than our musculoskeletal system can keep up! So increase your distance slowly to avoid injuries (and minimise your DOMS so you can still walk the following day!) My running coach did me a plan and my longer runs increased by about half a mile roughly every two weeks.
Dont be disappointed if the scales start being a bit mean to you and saying your weight loss has stopped or even worse, youve put on... Most of my running friends have this at some stage (sometimes for quite a while). Guess its the whole losing fat but gaining muscle thing. Keep measurements and other goals (like 5k/10k/half marathon distances) in your goal if this does happens.
And congratulations on your achievements!0 -
I haven't done much jogging lately cause I want my metabolism to speed up not slow down. But I do enjoy it.0
