Weak ankles- advice?

So, i've started doing a 5k once a week- My time is slow as i'm a beginner. I do smaller 20 minutes runs sporadically and am doing 30 Day shred.
I've been working at a new special needs school for 2 weeks and have been on my feet much more (chasing/running/playing/day trips to country parks. My ankles are KILLING. Dull ache all the time and impact from high knees/ jumping jacks etc are brutal- upping protein, but... what can I do? Still very new to exercise!

They are not for everybody but in my own case I have severely bad knee's (bone on bone) and through PT my only option short of knee replacement is to strengthen the muscles in and around my knee's so my PT therapist said we need to strengthen your feet and ankles as well so they suggested minimalist shoes which causes you to use more of the muscles in your feet and ankles and for me helps build the muscles around my knee joint's as well... Might be something to consider.... I wear Vibrams but if you don't like the toe style shoe than Merrell makes a shoe version as do other shoe makers... Best of Luck...

I fell off a kerb in april and tore the ligaments in my ankles and foot, my physiotherapy was to get a theraband and move my ankles in different ways, also a balance board, and calf raises. Balacing on one foot, then the other, and yoga. All of these helped me a great deal, and still do, as it will still be a while before i am fully recovered. Maybe stuff like this will help you too???
