I was told 4 months ago that i suffer from PCOS. That is the only thing i was told, no real explanation, nothing. I went to doctor over concerns i gained 2stone in just over a year, have bad acne, had back aches, and i was eating healthy and not losing any weight but just gaining!.
Im at a loss with what to do, I went to the doctor again and said my BMI has gone from 19 to just over 24, and she refused to help properly saying im still under a BMI of 25, so my weight gain is not a concern! argh!.
Anyone else recieved any support with their PCOS ie:dietitian?. Im going to doctors again to demand for help, because im so worried about my weight even increasing more.
I use to suffer from anorexia and to suddenly out of no where gain 2stone is very distressing.

I have PCOS and have lost 180 pounds...so losing weight is possible.I would visit a gyne or a endocrinologist. You can go to a nutritionist but my experience a lot dont understand PCOS properly. You prolly need to find a good doctor that understands PCOS. They should also test you for insulin resistance as well and if you are insulin resistant quite then they are quite likely to put you on metformin which can help.0

All I can say in a very generalized manner is a lot of pcos suffers find that lifting weights and improving their lean body mass helps allot when it comes to losing weight, also protein is very important (which is much higher then the numbers listed on this site) and high calorie restriction can suppressed an already suppressed metabolism even worse. There are some books you can get about it, but none I know off hand, since I don't have it myself. But I wanted to put in my 2 sense because I see to many people with the train of thought that they should eat less and less. My friend was one of those cases and she ended up stalling in weight loss and getting rather sick.
My best advice I can give, is don't listen to everything you hear on the internet. Check your sources, find out where things come from and why, and what the alternatives are.0
