How on earth are you meant to stay under the recommed daily allowance for sugar? I thought I was doing really well by having a yoghurt for breakfast only to find that the sugar intake is sky high, I am now in the red :frown:

Just focus on Calories first. Then Carbs/Fat/Protein. Sugar I wouldn't bother until your down the road after you lost a large chunk of the 70lbs.

You and me both! Sugar is the devil in the way it seems to pop up in the most unlikely foods... I exceed my daily sugar allowance before I even leave the house in the morning. (Special K is loaded with sugar and I'm addicted to that fruit n yogurt yumminess!)

I worry that I will never be able to keep the sugar in the green especially since so many fruits contain darn near the daily recommended value. I just do the best I can and focus on the calories, fat, sodium and protein. I figure once I get good enough at that then I'll refocus on keeping the sugar in check!

I pretty much just look at my calorie intake. I guesss I should pay more attention to the sugar and sodium and all the rest but I mostly just watch the calories.

Don't worry about the natural sugar in fruits, that is perfectly okay. It is the added sugars to foods that you need to watch out for. I have trouble keeping sugar under control, but I don't worry about it all that much. I do watch my sodium though because I have high blood pressure and the Dr. told me years ago to lose the salt shaker. I don't salt anything anymore and still my sodium intake is high at times due to all the sodium added to all processed, canned and fast foods. Keep your calories in check, then worry about the rest of the stuff as your weight goes down.
  • Hi,

I would like to thank you all for your responses. You are all correct and I will focus on my calaorie intake until later on down the track.

    Thanks!
