Extreme Fatigue

Hiya Everyone,

Iv got around 40 pounds to lose, and I keep trying and not succeeding, but im learning a lot here and I know I will get the right path eventually. However, I need some advice about fatigue. As a teenager I suffered with constant tiredness, first I was told it was anemia, then after years of no answers I was told I had chronic fatigue syndrome. It eased off but recently it seems to have returned. For example, yesterday I slept till 11am, then couldnt stay awake during the day. Went to bed and have only just woken up. (1.15pm) I fall asleep when friends are over, I have no energy and its so embarrassing! My diet is pretty bad, I dont generally eat breakfast or lunch and its a good day if I have a vegetable. Iv had a lot of problems with binge eating and am a complete yoyo dieter.

I think food is the strongest medicine, and I would love some advice in how to overhaul my diet to combat this. It's really affecting my life, not to mention my weight loss attempts! I don't eat meat only occasionally fish, and I know I need to completely change.

A good diet high in good fats, protein, and good calories / regular eating habits should remedy that. I get fatigued when I eat crappy food, and it doesn't go away til I get back into my groove. Start by eating regular meals, and following a meal plan with the appropriate macros that work for you.

First, I would recommend you go see your doctor. It could be chronic fatigue or it could be something else. Second, go to a nutritionist or dietitican for guidance/advice on proper eating for your health.

Ok, you admit your eating habits are less than optimal. So you know you should change them.
How to do that? Well you have to get over yourself and create new habits. Pick one change a week and practise it.
    For example:
Week 1: 8 glasses of water
Week 2: small breakfast (whilst continuing to drink plenty of water)
    Week 3: no pop
Week 4: have a fruit or veggie with every meal / snack
    Etc.
Those are just random things I picked, you should look at your current diet and decide which attainable small goal you want to pick for the week. Throw in some moderate exercise, proper sleeping habits (regular schedule, no napping after ... PM) and see if things improve.

That's how I felt until I changed how I ate. Now I eat balanced meals and stopped eating fast food and fried foods. Exercising also makes me feel better. Good luck!
