Calorie estimate of an entire deep fried pizza? *Pic*

I forgot my hat in Forcella a week ago, and since I had to make my way all the way downtown today to reclaim it, I picked up another pizza while there. I ate the entire thing!
It is about 11".
I am about to burst. Can't breathe.
Now the regret is setting in. Why could I not eat half. I'd like to know what the damage is.
Any guesses?

did you try forcellaeatery.com
The pizza is from there. What do you mean did I try it? They don't post calorie information.0 -
I can't say for sure but I'm thinking at a minimum you're looking at around 800 calories. Regardless, I commend you for doing it right and not coming in here with some cauliflower bs.
That pizza looks amazingly delicious!!!
LOL
I wish it was 800. I would not even blink an eye if it was 800. I'm fearing 2,0000 -
Whatever the caloie count - that looks like it was worth it!0

That's what I meant..... is there anyway you would be able to call and ask (I don't know just an idea......)0 -
How large is the pizza's diameter? That should help figure out how much you inhaled.
Though IMHO, I say to hell with it. Consider it a cheat day and move on with your life. Throw in an extra hour at the gym and march on.
The biggest thing is not to give up. Don't let one little hiccup stop your forward motion.
(Since calories depend on types of cheese/bread, additives, I doubt anyone on this site can give you an accurate calorie count. Studies show most of us underestimate calories anyway. I'd tend to lean towards 2,000 rather than 800 since a cheeseburger and fries can be closer to the 2, and pizza isn't much better.)0 -
Well... from what I can see I would say:
2 oz cheese - 200 cal
3/4 lb pizza dough - 900 cal
basil a couple of cal
1/3 cup sauce 50 cal
so something like 1155 for the whole shebang... I didn't see a fried pizza on their website, just a fried calzone, but if it's truly deep fried in some fashion I would add easily 4tbsp of oil at 120 cal per tbsp= 480 cal... That's just a rough guestimate based on the pic...0 -

What she said0 -
I'd say 2000 and call it a day.0

I love when folks use big chunks of mozz instead of shredding it up. It looks gorgeous.
At this point, unless you're bulemic (and dear god don't do that to yourself), there's nothing you can do. I'd say if it is deep fried, you're looking at around 1500-2000 calories, especially if they're using full fat mozz (i'm winging it here and could be way off). The oil from frying is really going to be the killer here, plus often under the sauce/over the cheese a little more oil gets added.
At least if you were going to splurge, you did it with style. Kudos! Just think, you could have splurged with 2-3 nastyburgers from mcjunkfood.0 -
A lot! lol. I'd guess 1000 at least.0

I agree, that looks wonderful!!
Hm... In comparison, I usually get a medium Domino's pizza, hand tossed crust with regular sauce, cheese and veg only toppings and that comes to just under 200 calories a slice (8 slices). This pizza you had is a bit smaller (11" vs 12") and looks like it doesn't have a ton of cheese but the fact that the dough is deep fried makes me think that's got to add some calories/fat. So I'd say somewhere around 1200-1600 calories is probably about right.
Wait an hour or two to let digestion take its course then go to the gym or go for a nice walk/run and try to work off some of those calories.0 -
Ok, this is what my nutritionist gave me as a guideline, not hard core science just a good approximation. The longer in the oil the more calories it adds. The lighter the substance the more calories it adds. So if you deep fry red meat, say for country fried steak, it is relatively dense, and cooks quickly so it would be (cube steak +flour)x1.5 = total calories or (248+56)= 304 304x1.5= 456 total calories. but for a deep frid turkey that takes a much longer time... it is 3, for a quick fry of chick strips 2. So chicken, turkey, and pork all are 2-3, you times fish against 3, because no one can figure out a long fry fish recipe that makes sense. Cheese, is 0-1, bread however is 4-5. So if it was just dipped in oil, 4, but if it was there 6 min or more 5. Lets say the pizza was 800 calories before frying. We will stick with four just because there is no other data. 800x4= 3200 calories, or about a pound of fat. I would tell you hit the gym and go back to eating 1200 calories a day. By hitting the gym pretty hard, you will have to push yourself but it can be done. Then you will balance your own deck out metaphorically speaking. You might also end up gaining some muscle that will help you burn those calories off now and in the future.0

Jesus man. Way to take the fun out of eating pizza.
OP, i was saying 800 as a conservative guess but I also forgot you said deep fried. Either way I'm licking the monitor.
Hehehe pretty close to what I said to her, 'you just took the fun out of southern food, and you suck'. was my grown up answer to her at the time!0 -
I don't think I'd even want to know. It looks like enough to be almost impossible to compensate for, so I say just let it go.
If you're gonna indulge, that's the way to do it!0 -
1500-2000. Not tons of cheese but deep fried, lots of thick fluffy dough. Yummmy.0

That pizza is deep fried? It looks normal to me...0

I'd say 2000 easy if it's deep fried (What the heck is deep fried pizza, anyway?!?)
I looked at a frozen grocery store pizza this weekend - thin crust, pepperoni. 16" I think. The whole pizza was around 2,300 calories!
Yours looks fresh and fabulous!0 -
Sweet Jesus Mother of God that is beautiful.
I'm legitimately going to order pizza now.
My guess is around 1400, but it looks like it's worth it. Don't sweat it and just get yourself back on track0 -

I think it is SO hard to estimate this kind of thing, it's best to just say it was good and move on.
If you wanted a TOTAL WILD BALLPARK, well. You could look up say, a fry bread for nutritional info for the crust, and then estimate the toppings. Deep fried foods are often overestimated, I think, because if they are done right, at the proper temperature, they actually don't absorb as much oil as people assume. Or you could take a similar-sized pizza and add a tablespoon or two of oil as an estimate. But even a tablespoon of canola oil is only 124 calories, so...really it's probably not as bad as you think.
Oh, and for people wondering what it is, they just deep-fry the dough. Add the toppings and finish it off so the cheese gets melty.0 -
One slice of papa johns with chicken and a couple veggies is 210 cals each, so call this 2k, be glad you enjoyed it, and do some extra tomorrow!
If I had a pizza that looked like that, I'd eat the whole darn thing too!!!!!!! Looks amazing!!0
