Ok, so I've done relatively well with calorie counting and exercise. I can not seem to control myself during social events. What do YOU do, to control overeating, in social settings??? I need some tips (HELP!!!).

Well, how do you feel at social functions? Are you nervous, self-conscious, happy or....?

That's challenging. I have a plan before hand which is usually fruits and veggies and one "main" thing I like. No sweets allowed policy. If all else fails, I have a finger food of everything, super small portions, so I'm getting the taste but not calorie bombs.

Strategy is helpful. Sometimes I eat before I go.
    Edit to add,
I should probably qualify that.....I will eat something which takes the edge off my appetite, like a serving of nonfat plain greek yogurt (hi protein, lo carbs) and a steamed veggie for fiber/satiation. Then, when at the event, I don't have that super-hungry feeling.
But maybe that's not why you are "over-eating"?

Though this can work for some people, I just end up eating twice--so my strategy is the opposite; I save ample calories for the event. If I can, I will get in a good workout and burn an extra 500-1000 calories, so I have extra to play with.

I don't have problems at social functions, I like to mingle and talk. I eat a little of the stuff I like and try to mentally add up my calories. This is not my weakness though, I am a closet eater. When I am alone it is a different story, this is when I want to pig out. I guess when I am busy I am ok.

Usually I plan a longer workout before I go to account for some extra calories I will be eating. I also look for healthy choices. If the are having tacos...I fill up on lettuce and tomatoes. I also choose what I want the most. IE: Instead of having pizza and a breadstick, I pick one. I also drink lots of water or no calorie drinks to fill me up. Hope this helps you out!
