Just go to a free trial lesson and make sure the box is certified and you have good trainers that watch your form!0

There's actually quite a large community of us CrossFitters on here. Look up the group Crossfit Love. You'll find beginners, veterans, old and young.
find a local affiliate, every gym has a different foundations class or on-ramp program.
http://map.crossfit.com/
^^^ that should help you find an affiliate close to you.
I've been at it almost 4 years and wouldn't dream of doing anything else. It pushes me more than I would have the motivation to push myself on my own, is cheaper than a personal trainer, and if you find a good gym, it will provide you with wonderful friends and acquaintances that you love to see and workout with.0 -

My husband has been doing it on his own for months now. He does not belong to a "box" as we can not afford to be part of an "official" CrossFit family, way to pricey IMO. He reads & studies a lot, watches youtube video's from Box's that are nice enough to post form & teaching techniques, etc....He's got the rings, the bar, the jump boxes, the weights all that junk! haha! He's lost 16lbs of fat and gotten strong as crap. He always says he loves the versatility of it being able to change his WOD if he wants, and being able to get a full body workout in half the time with twice the benefits of regular cardio, etc..... etc.... I have been getting into it a little bit, but haven't been able to go full on yet due to an ankle injury that keeps me from high impact and stuff, I've been working on my kipping pull-ups & toes to bar, working the rings, etc.... but hope to start getting more and more into it as my ankle continues to heal. I definitely think CrossFitters ARE the fittest people around, they are strong from lifting heavy, agile, explosive, and have good endurance....etc.....0

My husband did body building for years, never competed...said he just couldn't do the mankini  , though he totaly would have rocked it! He was strong as crap back then, but never much into cardio/enduance...the CF WOD's have actually got him to the point where he can run now, he's really impressed with that b/c he's never been a runner...AT ALL. I am excited to get more into it myself! My husband has been doing it on his own for months now.
