Adjust your calories during the day to allow for a night snack if you need one. There's no reason you can't eat when you're hungry as long as you're still within your goals.0
-
nope, not at all. maybe you calculated wrong.0
-
I'm at TDEE-30. Not hungry. I KNOW that I'm a night time snacker so I make sure that I leave room for that.0
-
Did you calculate your TDEE on Sedentary?
TDEE -20% only works if you calculate it with your activity level.0 -
i calculated it at sedentary. is that wrong?0
-
No. At TDEE -20% I had to force myself to eat more...
HOWEVER, what I recommend taking a look at WHAT youre eating. I recommend upping your fiber and maximizing fruits and veggie intake.
300 calories of lean protein and a 50 calorie side of veggies will keep you a lot fuller than a 350 calorie bag of chips.
Try leaving yourself calories for evening snacks if you know that's when you are hungriest0 -
Wat abt u?????
I am not usually on the spelling police side of things but, really, can you not string a
sentence together :noway:0 -
i calculated it at sedentary. is that wrong?
Yes. You basically found how many calories you would maintain your weight on and then subtracted 20% from that to create a deficit. It's what MFP does for you, so you're really just following MFP, not TDEE-20%. If you do the MFP version, you NEED to eat your exercise calories.
Do it again, but actually put in your activity level. Then take that new number subtract 20%, eat that everyday, with this method you do not log or eat your exercise calories as it's already included in your calculation.
Also depending on how many pounds you have left to lose, 20% may be too high, switch to 15% instead if it's calculating below your BMR.0 -
i calculated it at sedentary. is that wrong?
Well that depends. Do you truly sit around and not move all day? If not, then it is incorrect.0 -
My TDEE is 3;507, minus 20% would make it 2,508.6.
I have set, and am sticking to 1,375 calories and am seldom hungry. I do not "eat back exercise calories burned" I think eating a lot of low calorie foods so bulk fills me up followed by saving calories for late snacks helps.0 -

ok wut? you decide to take a 60% cut off of your TDEE. Good luck with your sustainable lifestyle.0 -

I was going to say enjoy your lack of LBM.0 -

Very easy depending on what you're eating too, but your diary is closed so we can't help.0
-
You can do TDEE - 15%, or even 10%. You would lose at those numbers, too. Why did you pick 20%?0

Yeah, what terrible advice to give. Another "fill up on low calorie foods" advocate. Never mind that one might get malnourished or lose muscle mass etc. I do the exact opposite. I eat a calorie dense (fat!) diet based on whole, natural foods and I never, ever struggle with hunger. For my situation, nothing worked except changing WHAT I eat. However, I don't think under-eating works for anyone; at least not in the long run. I know what under-eating did to my metabolism-I wouldn't wish that on anyone else.0 -
Sedentary doesn't mean lays around like a sloth all day and does nothing. It means someone who doesn't have an active job or doesn't do intentional exercise. I really wish people could get the difference between BMR which is lays around in a coma and sedentary which just means not an active person but some who still does housework, has a desk job, bathes, gets some groceries, you know, life!0

That person would be lightly active. Or some multiplier in between sedentary and lightly active.0 -
I get hungry at night all the time. I'd go with the option of just leaving enough calories for a night time snack. If your still hungry, you should Definately check your activity level. As long as you don't work at a sit all day job you should be able to atleast keep it on lightly active sometimes, if I'm hungry at night ill jut do a quick work out to allow myself more calories, eat, wait a little bit, stretch and then sleep. As long as your burning the calories off your gravy. A nice walk a few minutes after eating may do the trick! But don't ever starve yourself.0

Why are you starving yourself by eating less than half of what you need? Geez, no wonder you aren't hungry. You may have killed your body's hunger signals.
OP: I am only hungry during TOM. Other than that TDEE -15% leaves me satisfied and losing fat consistently. My TDEE was calculated using "moderately active" multiplier, though. I exercise 5 days a week...def. not sedentary.0 -
By definition you're eating 20% less then you need so it's perfectly natural to feel hungry. You're going to be hungry in a deficit (most of the time).0

Ok I'll repeat it again. Sedentary is someone with an office job who does not exercise. They are not lightly active, they are sedentary. Lightly active would be someone who exercises 1 to 3 hours a week, not someone who actually does more than just lay around in a coma. If you do 1 to 3 hours a week of actual exercise, not just moving about, then you are lightly active.
Being sedentary is not an insult or something to be looked down on. Lots of people in this world are sedentary. Telling them they are lightly active only leads to them eating more than they should and being discouraged when they don't lose.0 -
Maybe its not the calories but the food choices.. increasing protein to stay full longer might help. Also, dont forget that sometimes body mistakes hunger for thirst.. drink :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:0
-
As everybody mentioned, it could be the kind of food you are eating. Day time try and eat only when hungry and also something higher in fats and protein than carbs(though i actually dont follow this, but supposedly helps), this will leave quite a few calories for night time. I do this. I snack a lot once i am back from work. Also, if hungry, exercise some more and eat some more.0

A 30% cut is very aggressive and borderline dangerous. More than that is insanely unhealthy.0 -
