New Phase of Life for this 30yr old!

Hello Everyone!!

I have just joined MFP....this is my day 2! So I am a fresh newbie. :)

I am looking forward to utilizing this fabulous new tool to make some long term incremental changes in life. What I hope to learn is to be able to find out how to strengthen my muscles, build up stamina, in order to be able to exercise more than 15 minutes at a time, and to develop a strong easily maintainable menu.

Any help or suggestions on low impact exercises would be appreciated!

Wishing you well on all your journeys to better health and lives! Bless you all!

If you have access to a pool or a gym with a pool...you should really try water excercise. I think that you would really like it. It is very low impact. I started with that...and have worked my way up to land classes in the gym. I go back to the pool workouts two times a week to help recover some.

Feel free to add me. I try to keep a lot of stuff posted about what I am doing.

    Good luck!

Good Luck! I have lost over 70 pounds since joining. I never thought I could. The support here is amazing. It really helps to know there are so many people going through the same thing. Feel free to add me if you like. I would love to provide support, motivation, and tips anytime!
  • Thank you ladies for the warm welcome! I have sent you both a friend invite, and I would love to provide support in your journeys as well. Trabey81 thank you for the information on the water exercise. I checked with my university and they have a plethora of classes I can take for free this whole next academic year. (i.e. Aqua Fit, Aqua Zumba, and Hydrosculpt), so I think those will work out perfect! Although, I think i am going to ease into it since I have pretty much never exercised.

P.S. Tails congrats on the 70 lbs loss that is absolutely amazing....keep up the fabulous work!

Good luck with you journey! This really is a great tool and a great community, so I hope we can help you! In addition to the water exercise (sounds great, I'll have to try that myself!) I can recommend yoga. There are different levels of difficulty in yoga, so I would recommend something like Hatha or Yin Yoga to start with. Some schools also offer adapted classes for curvy ladies like us.

Youtube has lots of free exercises you can do both low or high impact. I worked up on the Leslie Sansone walking vids. She does the 1 mile right through to 5 miles or anywhere in between. I am now on the 4 mile fast walks.

Good luck, you sound determined so you will do it.
  • Thank you for those suggestions! I will definitely check out both of those!
