Pear Shaped/Tall Girls

As a 6ft girl with a pear shape, I'm seeing virtually no weightloss in my thighs and lower half which is where I'm wanting to see the most difference! I've lost 16lb so far and I'm 5lb off a healthy BMI but how much weight loss will it take to see a major difference because I can't see any change at all and its so demotivating! any one else in the same position?

I'm 5'9 and also pear shaped. I had to go to the underweight category to notice a bigger change in my thighs. I'm now pretty happy with them, but would still love to see them smaller. The thing is I can't lose any more weight because it's not healthy, so now I'm just doing my best to tone them. Toning did help a lot when it comes to the 'looking good naked' thing.
You have to embrace you shape and the fact that no matter the weight your bottom half will be bigger than your top. Try not to go craizy like me and fight nature, because you will lose.0 -
I'm 5'10" and my thighs/butt are my biggest concern! Try changing up your leg workouts more frequently! I used to be a dance instructor (Latin & ballroom) and when I was dancing every day my legs took on a very different shape than they ever had playing volleyball, basketball and track in high school. Try some calisthenics too - they help tone beautifully!0

Im not as tall as you gals but im 5,8 and totally have the pear shape with huge freakin hips, butt, and moderate thighs. It gets discouraging but i know if i stick to my work outs i will see the progress that i want. I started doing jillians 30 day shred along with the 30 day ab challenge, I love them both. I took pics of the first day and then for ****s and giggles i did it on the 6th day and i was amazed at what a difference i saw. Keep your head up and you'll get your results. We just got to work harder and we'll see those results we want:)0

I was just complaining to my trainer that I lost 3 inches at my waist, but only 2 at my hips and 1 on my thighs. Frustrating!! But still good. We are lunging and squatting,(and way more) on the way to better shaped legs. I'm 5'10 and lost over 30lbs. I carry it all in my hips, butt and thighs.0

510- pear
In ways its a good thing. You be thin with a great butt!!! At my thinnest my butt still looked good and guys liked it:)
Adventually it will even out0 -
I am a 5'11" pear.
Weight train! weight train! weight train!
I can't stress enough how much better your butt/hips/thighs will look if you do weight training to target those areas. Deadlifts, barbell squats, glute bridges are all excellent exercises.0 -

I'm 5'11" and pear shaped. I haven't had much of a change on the scale since I started with the weights and weight machines and was feeling super discouraged. Then I caught a glimpse of my legs in the full length mirror and stopped dead in my tracks. My thighs were so much slimmer!
You also can't fight nature. You're always going to have a tendency to carry extra weight in your lower half. Embrace your shape!0 -
Also, don't rely on just looking at yourself in the mirror. Take pics and measurements and track every month or two. I hadn't really noticed much in my lower half changing (5'10" 272 SW, now 238), but last weekend I pulled on knee high boots I hadn't worn in a while and there was a lot more space in them! And I have been measuring, too, so my legs are, overall, slimmer, but since I was only taking measurements at my calves and thighs, I didn't notice the shape coming out, so pics are important, too!0
