Actually, I have tried myfitnesspal several times over the last couple of years and have never stuck with it. Now I am back and decided to check out the community boards thinking that if I get involved here it might help to hold me accountable which would hopefully make me more inclined to stick with it this time.
Here is a little about me:
I am a 40'ish stay at home mom to an 8 year old son. I live in Eastern NC. I lost 40 lbs on weight watchers once upon a time, but that was 11 years of marriage and one child ago and since then I have gained that 40 back plus another 20 and considering I am only 5'2" I am starting to look a little like an oompa loompa....or maybe the blueberry girl in that movie, but either way it is not flattering and it has to go. I am finding that losing weight in my 40's is much harder than losing in my 30's and I get discouraged pretty easily. That's pretty much it. I started back here on Monday and so far so good. It hasnt been hard so far, but the weekend is coming and that is usually my downfall.
Hi to all...I hope to get to know some of you and encourage and be encouraged.

I am in my late 40's and just started on MFP about three weeks ago. Feel free to add me and we can encourage each other.0

I am in my mid-40's and thought with menopause on the horizon, it would be difficult to lose weight. I started MFP January, 2012 and by July of that year had lost nearly 40 pounds!! I truly couldn't believe how quickly the weight fell off...no plateaus...just slow weight loss week after week!! The key for me, I believe, was cutting out all junk food and fast food - at least for the first 6 months while I retrained my thinking, eating smaller portions (thanks to MFP for turning that light on for me!), and exercise! I've been a runner for years but the year or two prior to 2012 saw a significance decrease in my running/exercising. I've ran two half marathons but found at one point I couldn't even run 5 km without stopping and walking. So, when January, 2012 rolled around I thought, enough is enough. I now exercise 5 to 6 days a week - running/spinning/yoga and walking. What a difference it's made! I fell off the wagon a while ago...figured I didn't need to log my meals anymore and although I still exercise, I found my portion sizes slowly increasing, allowing myself the full bag of chips and a large bag of M & M's on the weekends, eating out more and not making healthy decisions...and atthough I haven't put on weight, I feel gross...so, like you, back at it!! We can do this!0

What an inspiration, thanks for sharing!
Exercising is my downfall....I just dont like it. I tell myself I don't have time, but the truth is I do I would just rather curl up with a book or with my knitting needles. I have no energy and I know that will increase with exercise, but I don't even have enough to get started. I keep promising myself I will start exercising....tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes. I am leaving for the beach this Friday for a 3 day visit with a good friend and her husband who are die hard regulars at the gym...I am jealous of their bodies...and I am hoping that my friend and I can go on walks each morning to jump start a workout routine for me.0
