How do I log this exercise?

I am a member of Go30 which is the same as Gymphophics

http://www.go30.co.uk

Don't be put off by the feminine look, I work hard yhere and had my assessment today so now I'm doing heavier stuff.

It's machines that use resistance in a circuit over 30 minutes and you do your set number of reps in each plus 2 lots of mat work.

I'm averaging 15-20 kilos of resistance on each machine. Mat work are crunches and squats etc.

I was using calasthenics but its more like strength training (correct me if I'm wrong) I walk out of there sweating and I ache like mad the next day.

Any insights will be appreciated

keep using the calisthenics... strength training on MFP is a joke.

Probably less than calisthenics. Strength training isn't a big calorie burner which is why MFP doesn't allot calories for strength training. Sweat isn't an indicator of calorie burn and while you may be working hard and building muscle it doesn't burn much extra.

If you workout regularly, I wouldn't even log exercise and instead just up your lifestyle to moderately active. Then exercise is built in and you can aim for the same calories daily. This way, it's easier to estimate TDEE or your true maintenance.

There is an entry for "circuit training," which shows a much higher calorie burn than the "strength training" entry. Try that.

The best way to know what you're burning calorie wise is to buy a heart rate monitor which will measure your heart rate. It won't be exact but it will give you a better idea of what you're burning. You can also google - there are websites that will do estimates for you based on your measurements. I don't know one off the top of my head but if you need help to find one, PM me.

A HRM is not accurate for strength training.

That sounds similar to Curves. It's also a 30 minute circuit. I would select Curves 30 minutes from the database.

    methinks you're strength training incorrectly.

MFP's is WAY off for what you would actually burn for a proper heavy strength training session.

But I absolutely agree- sweat is not a good indicator of anything- if I sit in the sauna I sweat- clearly not burning more than when I'm working out :D
