Weight loss while abroad!

Hi! I'm studying abroad in Australia for the semester, and want to completely transform my body, and wow my family and friends when I return to the states. I'll be here until the end of November... So that's a little less than 4 months. Do you think it'd be possible for me to get down to 130 lbs? I'm currently 5'10" and 180 lbs. Thoughts?

It's definitely possible, but that seems super low weight for a tall girl like you. And a really tight deadline for that much weight. I thought that girls around that height should aim for 140-160. Definitely look at healthy weight ranges and ask your doctor what his/her recommendation would be. Just don't get too caught up by the numbers. I find that fitness or physical goals tend to work better. For example, I have a weight goal of 127 lbs, but my real goal is to fit comfortably back into my size 4 pants. So maybe setting that kind of physical goal might be something else for you to think about. Just make sure you're doing it healthy. That's a lot of weight to lose in a very short time.0

I did 48 pounds in 5 months, so you might be able to do it. However learn from me, after I did that I was weak as a kitten, lost a decent amount of muscle mass, I had to work ten times harder during my bulk to gain back that muscle that I lost simply because I was in a rush to do it.
Your choice, I was still super happy and got constant "wows" from people and would probably still do it if I could go back in time. Just bare in mind there are consequences which if you go about correctly you can fix, if not you might end up in skinny fat city.0 -
Only time will tell if it is doable or not. I'm 5'10'' too but am aiming for around 70 kg or 154 lbs (I think) in a strong, muscular state, but since I've no idea of what my happy weight is, I've decided to take that number with a grain of salt. Why 130 lbs precicely? Have you been there and found it to be a good weight when in a healthy state?0

I live far from my home (six months in Switzerland and then one year in Singapore starting in a month!). I must admit that the first months in Switzerland were hard! I gained weight (because of cheese, sedentary, beers and chocolate!). So I had a rought wake up call in July that put me to work!
Yes, it is possible to lose weight and tone and "impress" your family back home. It requires a lot of work and a lot of discipline (it's so easy to just go for a "dinner" and have a "few" beers and suddenly your calories are up in the sky!). You'll have to cook at home a lot and avoid drinking (unless it fits your macros).
Also exercising.. And walking as a tourist isn't really a work out!
What is a bit worrying is the amount of weight you want to lose. It's too much for six months! What I'd do is start counting calories, get a membership to the university's gym and start working out... maybe add some weights? Walk everywhere! And also, I know it's difficult but try to cut down the alcohol... diet coke and lemon is your best friend!
Good luck and have fun... I've never been in Aus but I was in NZ and I was in love..0
