Halloween Costumes 2013

What is everybody planning to wear for Halloween this year!? I'm tossing some ideas around in my head for simple costumes that will show off my hard work (working to lose 15 pounds by then!) but not be ridiculously slutty! It would be fun to see what others are planning!

Wow! That would take a lot of time to make, but I bet it would be fun! I used to go all out for Halloween costumes, but I travel too much to make really detailed ones anymore. :(

:flowerforyou: Totally understand your pressed for time issue with having to ready your costume Rachel.

I go about it my cheat way. I stick to a character like Morgaine and I basically "accessorise" myself with effective accents to revitalise the character through me without going all novelty style about it. ENTER the bodypaint (Spirit of the Crow motif stenciling along an exposed arm or my thighs garter stockings- esque), the face bodypaint makeup (Face lace in blood red with her signature symbols ~ half of the face either from top to side or right across from earlobe to earlobe ~ yet undecided), add the accessories (the heels. the head dress) plus the jewelry (subtle ones only, featuring the crescent moon or a weapon or a some other relevant signature symbol depictive of the character); Dramatise the hair, the eyes and the nails ... And I'm good to go. Doesn't take long if "the highlights" are small yet occasion worthy lol

Made the mistake of not bothering one year ~ let's just say never again, so I attempt some effort.

ETA: Those who know me insist that Halloween's my favourite holiday and it appears that way, but my personal favourite is Easter (which they're never into lol).

I've been Minnie Mouse for the past 4 years and I think it's time for a new costume.

I might head out to Universal Studios for Halloween- so I should really plan something special since the majority will be in costume (not to mention the zombies and werewolves and clowns chasing you down lol)

Probably something along the lines of a mermaid? I would love to play around with cosmetics, it'll give me an opportunity to show off my makeup artistry. Though it would be difficult to walk around with a fishtail all day lol !

I'm going to start the Halloween season early with a Headbanger's Ball party at a bar in about a month. My husband will be Glenn Danzig and I'll probably just be... me, circa 1989-90, which is costume enough.

There will also be two zombie walks. One is at a mall, so we might redo our Zombie Jay & Silent Bob costumes and be Mallrats.

Our Umbrella Corp zombies were fun, too.

As for real Halloween, I'm leaning towards Middle Earth. I'll probably be something like Evangeline Lilly's elf in the next Hobbit, he'll probably be an overgrown dwarf.

I thought the Bane costume was pretty cool.

How much do people normally spend on a costume? I thought $350 was kinds much for it.

I suppose the alternative would be to make a homemade version like this one??

Yup, that settles it, gonna make my own.

I did Mary Poppins last year...got pretty much everything from goodwill. It was so fun and sexy but still classy. I'd do it again this year but I'm pregnant and due September 29th, so I'll have to think of something different.

My yard and garage spook house theme is all zombies this year. Its a big family production. Twice we have had live tv news coverage on Halloween. I should have started dieting earlier, but I guess I will have to be some sort of fat zombie.

Me and the BF are going to be Poison Ivy & the Joker... His brother is bald so we're trying to convince him to be Bane... I already started my scouring of Ebay for everything. Got the BF a purple suit and found a green sequin dress/red wig for me (only spent $30 on everything so far. Score!). I'm just going to start gluing ivy leaves all over the dress and put some in the wig- pair everything with some kick a$s makeup. It'll be awesome- I'm pretty excited already. Halloween is my FAVORITE... I'm trying not to wish away summer though!

Don't make an atrocious mask like the one above... Start with a regular dust mask (like $1.00 at Walmart) and run the little plastic tubes into that. It'll look a little less ridiculous. I've already started on a Bane mask for this year- it's gonna be awesome. Also, we're going to go to the local army/navy and get an old vest. The pants can be anything dark- no ones going to pay much attention to that. And the arm thing can be an old arm/wrist splint spray painted dark.
I just can't justify spending as much as they want for "costume" stuff. It's always cheap crap anyways. I'd rather use my creativity!

My motivation for losing the extra weight I put on IS being able to wear one of my former Halloween costumes!

The ones I am trying to get back to are Poison Ivy - a velvet dress I got at Goodwill (I cut it off at the chest and added lots of silk vines from Hobby Lobby), painted an old pair of boots green, green tights, temporary red hair dye, fun glittery & green make-up with 2 leaves glued to my eyelids to accent my eye make up. FUN!

The other is a sexy Ring Master - black shorts; fishnet stockings, black boots, black top hat and cheap red corset from Walmart!

    Have fun!

Considering Elvira or Jessica Rabbit. I might have to come up with a more modest one too, for work. The sexy one is for that night.
