Girls... some advice on Spanx?

Ok, I bought a particularly scandalous dress to wear to my bachelorette party in Vegas... any thoughts on the type of Spanx I should wear?
And do "Assets" from Target work as well, or should I splurge on the real deal? Keeping in mind that I'm in the process of losing a fair amount of weight.

Some of this might be TMI, but you did ask... A few thoughts on Spanx... they work pretty well, but fat does shift to odd places some times (think back fat area mainly). They tend not to roll, which is nice, and I'd suggest the kind with the "potty panel", so you don't have to take on and off (and if you're doing a batchelorette party, I'm assuming there will be cocktails involved). They also get hot, but I wore a set in Louisianna and survived. When you put them on, be sure to pull them all the way up, especially in the butt area... for some reason, it makes them fit better and they're more comfortable.
I like the brand name of Spanx, and if you have a Lane Bryant near you, I'd take the dress down there and see what they suggest. Also, be absolutely honest about your weight when you buy them... it does matter.

I suggest spanks higher power. I dont go to any function without them. If you dont mind them with feet thats the best option. The go from foot to your bra.
If not they have ones that go from your knees to your bra but my legs are pretty thick and I feel like I looked like I had a bulge at the bottom.0 -
I have Spanx and I absolutely LOVE them!! I have been using the same pair and I've lost 30 lbs total but I can tell I might be needing to go down a size soon. They are a good investment if you plan to wear them for other reasons than just your bachelorette party. They have a particular style that hook to your bra so the top doesn't roll down. I use them anytime I wear a skirt or dress. You're probably safe going with the Target brand if it's just for one night. Although I've never tried the Target brand.0

Do NOT go with assets, they don't work and they roll. and i agree with the hook to your bra thing i don't like my back fat showing. i also recently tried flexees corset thingie to hide my tummy and back fat and i was happy.0

YES! i love the shaper over spanks, the top though. As for bottoms, they both roll down on me all the time!!! We woman do not have it easy by any means! Getting into spanks is a workout in itself!!!!!0 -
I only wear the cammisole/tank Spanx - and they go down to hip anyway. I find it more comfortable than the "pants" and easier to use the Ladies Room too! LOL0

My advice as a spank wearer: look for any brand that is thick especially around the crotch area. Because with the pulling and tugging that is where it usually wears out. I like a little belly cover to smoothe everything over and make me look star-esque. But truthfully, some of my favorite spanks are the ones that are not brand name.
Hope this helps and congrats on your upcoming nups.0 -
I have the body shaper from Hanes.com... I know it was really cheap, but it goes from just under the bra line to just above the knees. I probably should have gotten a size smaller (looks like they may run a little big) but I have worn mine couple times already, no rolling down, no nasty bulge at the bottom and makes me "feel pretty", I also tend to stand up nice and tall in it as well. However, I don't see where the one I have "holds me in" and maybe that is bc it could be tighter, but it definitely helps smooth out the lines0

I agree. All the off brands do for me is shift my fat around. As someone else put on a different thread. I feel like a busted can of bisquits! And they roll up. I've never tried spanx. If they let you try them on at the store, take your dress and try it out. See how you like it. Good luck!0 -
You know I bought some Assests, and wore them to an occassion in June I really liked them.0

Thanks for all the info!!! I think I will mosey on over to Torrid and try on one of their in-house ones to see if the fit is worth the cost... because back fat is enemy no. 1!0
