Doing more hiking/tramping anyone?

Hi. I am starting to do more tramping, partly as a good family activity, partly as my son is doing his Duke of Edinburgh which involves 3 day 2 night tramps. If anyone else is also tramping/hiking, it would be nice to be in touch. I particularly find friends who have time to comment daily really helpful. Add me if this sounds like you.

No one has replied. Hiking is such fun and uses SO many calories.

I love hiking phillipa, but now I am back in the UK I don't get out as much as I used to.
I lived in NZ for 4 years, its beautiful and great for the outdoors.
    Which island are you on?
I was on the south near Wanaka. Ended up been far too remote a place for me and so I came home...I guess it's just what you grow up with!
Good luck with it all and I am sure some hardcore hikers will reply soon :)

not real sure what tramping is. I spend a week in the fall and in the spring in the Smoky Mountains hiking. Right now I am working towards getting in shape for that by walking up and down hills daily. Hopefully time will allow some longer Saturday walks soon to help me build endurance.

Hi. I live in the North Island. When i was in the uk i would try and get up to the Lake District once a month or so. I think Wanaka is truely beautiful, but i can see it would feel remote.

Hi, I love hiking but just haven't been able to get out there. Life gets in the way some times. I am planning on getting out a lot more this year. Whether it be hiking or kayaking.

I would love to hike the Routeburn? track and do Milford Sound etc.

    FR sent.

I love to hike. Mostly I just do day hikes every Sunday, but love to get out now and then for a few days.
I just got my vacinations today actually for some backpacking I will be doing in Peru in September.

I'm on the local trails every weekend. I live in Northern BC (canada) so we have access to amazing mountains close to home. :)

My goal for this year is to be able to handle the hardest of the the local hiking groups hikes.

Yesterday was around 17km, 800+ m elevation gain. Raven lake / Grizzly den BC.
