Okay so since I've started I've been very good about measuring and weighing everything that goes into my mouth. SO with that being said - this pasta thing has me confused so I'm reaching out to all the MFP friends aroun the world.
If my package of barialla plus angel hair multigrain pasta has nutritional value for 2 ounces is that dry weight or after cooked?
When I weigh out 2 oz dry - then cook it and reweigh to get two ounces of "wet" pasta I realize that the pasta is now full of water
I am just confused as to the amount I should be eating and logging for a "serving" Wet or dry?
PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Typically it is dry. It is strange the package doesn't tell you but all the pasta packages I have at home say x oz dry.0

Most dry packaged foods that are cooked with water (pasta, rice, oatmeal) are dry weight. Always check the label though. Anything that is made with something other than water will usually have a "prepared" value as well. If you cook rice using a broth you would have to add the calories in the broth to the cals in the rice.0

It goes by dry weight .. it may weigh more after being cooked but its because water is absorbed in it which has no calories so you're good. Just remember if you cook anything in a broth or something to add the calories from that as well as pasta calories. Also, don't forget to count butter if you use it .. When I first started, I didn't think I should count cooking sprays, oils, butter, spices, etc.0

mm, pasta, my downfall . I am now eating that Barilla Multi Grain pasta, well actually, Im planning on next week eating it 2 times a week, and dont use butter anymore with it. If I dont put something on it, it gets real sticky and starchy. I am now using , for the first time in history, Olive Oil. I didnt like the taste at first, but said, Its healthy, get used to it, so I have
and I sprinkle on about 3 table spoons full of Parmesan Cheese............thats all
I do eat about 6 oz of it at a sitting, thats why I m kinda backing off from it...............I feel its great to eat, but I tried to eat 3 oz of it, and, lol, I was still craving spaghetti.............
Soo, I understand how people love pasta...............mmmmmm ,awesome. Lloyd0
