I ate all of my exercise calories back

Yesterday, I ate all of my exercise calories back for the first time netting OVER 1200. I was terrified to do this as I was sure it would cause me to gain.
I am no longer afraid! I still lost a pound since yesterday and I killed it at the gym today - even crushing my best time running 2.5 miles.
My relationship with food had changed - I now see it as fuel - not the enemy. I feel amazing.
Thanks to all of you who helped convince me!

Good, you shouldn't be netting under 1200 under any normal circumstances. Congratulations! If food wasn't inherently good for you, it wouldn't be delicious.0

With only 11 pounds to go you should be eating more than 1200. Go ahead and let yourself! You don't have to starve to lose weight.0

wow,, now you should go do something really wild and out of character,
do you want some ideas??0 -

Solid post. I eat upwards of 5,000 calories some days. It all depends on your activity level. The only thing that really matters is NET calories. If you burn 500 calories on a run then that's all yours to eat back. You can still lose weight and as you mentioned this is the fuel your body needs to continue being able to perform to your expectations.0 -

Glad you're learning to fuel your burns! I've lost 90lbs eating all of mine back. I'd rather reach goal healthy rather than with no hair or teeth ;-)0

I am so happy that you have realized you can eat more than the 1200 calories and still lose weight. It is something I found really hard to believe until I tried it. Glad you had a killer workout in the gym today too!0

I am petite. My BMR is 1251 and my TDEE (with my intense workouts) is 1800. I am trying to work my way up to 1400 but I am so used to netting between 700-950 calories a day. So I am working my way up to it. It was hard to allow myself to get to 1200 yesterday and I had to jam in 500 calories before bed. But I'm getting there!0 -

I just realized this week that being over the 1200 isn't a bad thing. (although MFP notes it on your main page like it's a good thing) I didn't eat back my exercise calories on Sunday or Monday (not that I was trying, I really just wasn't hungry). But Monday and Tuesday I was just exhausted and had headaches, Wednesday morning I woke up a couple of times really hungry but didn't get up. Then when I did get up, I felt really off. Since I just figured that out this week, I'm hoping to get back on track and actually losing weight (I haven't lost anything trying to stick to the 1200 anyway).
Glad it's working for you!0 -

Keep working at it! I know it feels like cheating to feel full, but it's not. I would even recommend eating TDEE - 15% (1500 calories)0
