carb intake

How many carbs should a person eat daily to lose weight? I think i am eating to many carbs , I have lost around 12 lb since June 6, 2013, I have been doing the Jillian Michaels , DVD 30 day shred plus walking 1.5 to 2 miles every other day. This pass week i didn't do anything my body was busted but i plan on starting back in the Morning with Gods help. My goal was to lose about 30 pounds by October but dont look like that will happen, seeking all information.

    I managed to shift 60lbs on a high carb diet, so honestly I don't worry about keeping my carbs at the level I want them at (currently 50% of my diet). What do you have your macro ratios set to?

    How many calories are you eat every day (your diary is closed) is the key to weight loss not the % carbs. You may exercise regularly but if you're not eating at a deficit you won't lose weight.

    I eat carbs in every meal, I love carbs & won't give them up. Just choose healthy carbs like whole grains, porridge, brown rice etc. I'm usually around 180/200g of carbs and lost 23lb in 10 weeks.
  • maybe i eat the wrong fruit cause i love bananas, etc. may carbs count be like 500 sometime . i eat oatmeal, sweet potatoes, no cakes or pies maybe have a diet drink once .

    As was mentioned, your macro/caloric breakdown means nothing if you don't have a caloric deficit. You could be 100 or 0% carbs or anywhere in between.

    Honestly that should be Point #1 in all of the FAQs. It's so basic that many people forget about that.

    The dietician I went to for my diabetes recommended 45 grams of carbs for a meal and 15 for a snack and 1300 calories. I am 64, 5'2" and have lost 31 lbs with that. It has worked for me, slow and steady weight loss. Although I didn't lose any weight last week for the first time.
