Protein with naturally low fat content

Hi everyone!
I've been looking at my macros and I'm having a hard time finding food sources that are high in protein but naturally low in fat. I stress the word naturally!
I eat whole fat foods for the most part, except for actual milk because I don't like actual milk...love dairy, hate milk...go fig...:) I already drink protein shakes and I eat lean meats for meals so I'd like to know if there's anything else anyone can perhaps suggest for snacking.
Thank you!

Fat free cottage cheese?0

white mushrooms are a good source of protein. I saute them in cooking spray and add them in my eggs and fresh green beans.0

YOU ARE RIGHT ....AHHHH THE PERILS OF PROTEIN STAY AWAY FROM THE HIGH PROTEIN BS0
-
Reduced fa mozz string cheese, 8g protein, 60 cals each.0

Carblegend...er...ok?
I don't do low fat stuff...too much crap replaces the fat. That's why I was looking for naturally low fat snacking options...if that even exists!
Anne, I didn't know that about mushrooms...thanks...:D I LOVEEE mushrooms.0 -
Your welcome. 3 0z is zero fat and 3 g of protein and 20 g cal.:bigsmile:0

Chicken, fish, lean cuts of beef and pork. Also, don't cut too much fat out of your diet...fat isn't the devil and is necessary for hormone regulation among other things. Too many people try to cut out all of the fat and it's counterproductive to their goals and unhealthy. Fat doesn't make you fat. If you're eating primarily natural foods anyway, I wouldn't worry about it too much at all.0

Lean meats like chicken, tuna, etc.
Eta: Whoops, reread your OP.
As snacks go, most dairy will have fat and veggies simply do not have enough protein to be practical.0 -
How many calories are you expecting with these protein snacks?0

Why are you trying to reduce fat at all? Fat is good for you.
Edamame would meet your needs. They sell frozed, shelled edamame in these kids' individual packs (they have dora the explorer on them) that are perfect for snacks.0 -
Lean meats are good, of course. Cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, tofu (although I think it is icky), and beans are other options.
It sounds like you are already familiar with protein shakes, but you can experiment with different brands and flavors.0 -
Hi! have you tried laughing cow babybel light cheese?? Great afternoon snack. Good natural source of calcium. fat 3, carbs 0,protein 6,calories 50. I love them in the afternoon just enough to keep you going until supper.0

LOL! Logged as "Edamame shelling, vigorous effort."0 -
Edamame, lentils, pistachios.....0

Shrimp! Wish it wasn't that expensive though.0

Beans, lentils, egg whites. And actually, I don't have the package in front of me, but to my memory, lower fat string cheese doesn't have a lot of crap in it. Same with lower fat greek yogurts...0

I'm not trying to reduce fat, I'm trying to increase protein in the snacks I eat. I have plenty of fat in my diet seeing as I eat whole dairy and lots of lean meat...no low fat for me unless it's milk itself. I've been eating out more lately so there's not so good fat in my diet right now too...need to get to the grocery store!
Yourenotmine, most of the yogurts that are low fat have either sucralose or aspartame in them and I don't like the taste. Low fat cheeses taste like rubber to me and they tend to put things in to compensate for the loss of fat. Feel free to share the brand of your cheese stings though if they are indeed free of fillers! I'm always happy to learn something new and try it...:)
Ha! on the edamame calorie burn...XD
I eat 2000 calories daily if that helps.0 -

oh oh oh try Siggi's!! yeah they are like twice the price of regular yogurt but higher in protein, lower in calories and sugar/carbs, and I think they only use agave as the sweetener. (the serving sizes are a bit smaller than others too, but my comparison is based on weight, not serving size). Now, warning, its not as tasty as other yogurts because it's not as sweet, but add some fruit and its a great snack and keeps me satisfied for a while. I especially like to heat up frozen fruit, which results in a naturally sweet liquid that mixes into the yogurt and... omg, delish!0 -
I snack on turkey and/or chicken breast and eye of round roast. Nothing wrong with eating lean meats as snacks. Tuna would also be great and you can get those packets you can just carry around, or small cans of chicken or tuna.0
-
I'll see if Siggi's is around Elyelyse...often enough we don't have things available readily in the US up here in the great white north...;)
Lee, I never thought of those. I'll have to check them out...:)0 -
And most times now, you can buy the cans of chicken and tuna will a pull-tab lid, so no can opener needed. Just drain and eat. One 5 ounce can of white meat chicken breast normally has about 120 calories.0

How about Skinny's? They are 15-20 calories and fill you up. It works for me and helps control your intake.
As for protein, I like various sources.. Hemp hearts, chia seeds, cottage cheese low fat, low fat greek yogurt, rolled oats. there are many good choices out there.
As for fats, I always make sure to have some of the following every day: extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil as your body needs fats and omega 3 and 6's for healthy cell production.
My gym buddies are amazed how I can keep my intensity up in my workouts on a daily basis. I began my weight loss journey in Feb of this year and managed to get very good results. Check my progress and my wife's. We are on the journey together.
