30ds, no results yet?

Hey, so I'm 19, probably somewhere around 5'6" maybe 5'5", and about 165lbs. I've just finished day 17 (day 7 of level 2) of the 30 day shred and while i definitely feel like my endurance has gone up, I've lost absolutely zero inches (centimeters, meters, feet??? etc). I've been eating a lot better than I normally do and generally staying within my calorie range that MFP has given me, however it is fairly hard for me to constantly cook myself fresh, healthy food as I live far away from any grocery store and can't drive yet (which is ridiculous, obviously, but shhh). Although sometimes I end up a little under the calorie range and over the sugar limit because we have a lot of fruit, but I do mostly stay away from all of that delicious unhealthy stuff we keep in the house.
While I am looking at this realistically and know I won't get to point where I feel super comfortable with my body or have any drastic changes in 30 days or less, I was just expecting something like maybe a little less than half an inch off some part of me at this point? (although, I know it's totally possible that there's just things I'm not noticing).
I've never been particularly active, and while I wouldn't say this is the most active i've been in my life, I'd say it's at least a close second, so I've definitely got a fat to muscle ratio of about 500:1. Do you think there's just more muscle building going on before my body decides to get rid of that fun extra pudge? if that's even something that happens at all?
I'm definitely not going to stop doing it, because I do like noticing when I'm able to go longer through an exercise (which is progress, I know!) and just generally feeling like I've accomplished something for the day. It's just a bit disheartening to not have any kind of slightly noticeable outer-physical changes after sweating so much, haha. (I also have fairly consistently been half-heartedly doing some blogilates exercises a few hours after i do the 30ds in the morning and am also planning on doing level 2 for an additional 20 days and level 3 for 10 after I finish this first round).
Basically I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen when doing the 30ds and if they did end up getting good, decent, or any results?

A few questions: How many calories a day are you aiming for? Are you following Natalie or Anita during most of the moves. What hand weights are you using (1 lb, 2 lb, 5 lb) when you do the exercises in 30DS? Do you feel as though you have pushed yourself hard through the whole workout?
I too have been doing this workout and am on Day 19 right now. I've seen really good results and think it is a great workout for the short time you do it. As I progress through the levels, I try to increase my weights about halfway through each level because by then the exercise is becoming easier to do and I want to push myself. I'm no expert, but I'm guessing maybe you've cut too few or too many calories or that you aren't pushing yourself hard enough during the workout to get your heart rate up into the fat burn level.0 -
MFP tells me I should be eating about 1200 a day and that's typically what I eat (a little under or over), without feeling as though I need to eat more food to feel full. I usually follow Anita, because I am the exact opposite of in-shape, but I push my self as hard as I can through each workout, but if I get to a point where it's just too much strain and I really can't hold something, I ease up for a couple seconds.
I get the 30ds done anywhere from 9am-10:30am on most days and do some varied blogilates exercises around 4pm or 5pm.
I also use 5lb weights and I feel like those give me a really good arm workout. I barely have any useful arm muscles, so honestly a 2lb weights would probably make my arms hurt too.
I do have a pretty sedentary lifestyle right now, since it's summer vacation and I'm taking a vacation to the fullest extent, so that could definitely be another factor in why I'm not seeing a lot of physical results.0 -
Well, from what you've said, I'm afraid I have no useful advice to give. That is where my calories are set too, and I mostly use the 5 lbs weights (a couple I use 8 lbs and one I use 2lb). From everything you've said, you should be seeing some results. Stick it out for another month. If you don't see any noticeable results by then, perhaps a doctor's check-up would be warranted. Maybe he/she could offer a better explanation for the lack of results you are having. Best of luck to you!0

Oh, no, don't worry about it! honestly, I'm a little surprised too, since I've seen tons of other people get nice results from it. Oh well!
Thank you for the input though and good luck to you too0 -
I did not get any results for about 20 days. After being tired of no results I added 10 mins on treadmill before my workout and then I started to lose weight. . But I lose the same Weight doing that 10 mins of cardio even without the 30ds so personally the 30ds does not work for me at all. I don't feel like it gets your heart rate up enough and the strength training isnt good enough for me. But everyone is different0

I'm on L1D10 and I don't notice a difference at all besides my endurance. I also do walking/running and pretty much always stay at or below my calorie goal of 17300

Have you lost any weight at all, you just mentioned that you didn't lose any inches? I am not familiar with the 30DS, but it could be possible that you are eating too little calories as well and your body is trying to hold onto your fat? I would still stick with it, because if you are FEELING like you are getting stronger, it can't be bad for you0

what you were saying about not being particularly active, and that you might be gaining muscle mass instead, i would say that is it and that your body is holding onto water to help repair your muscles...
i joined the gym a month ago now and im only just starting to see the weight come off... it does take time for your body to respond to something new you are putting it through... just be patient and keep pushing, im sure you will see a difference by the end
good luck and have fun x0 -
I know it is the 30 DS but are you taking a break between workouts?
If you are following any exercise program, then, you do need to take a day off (or 2) to give your muscles time to repair.
I have done the 30DS a couple of times and increased the hand weights (taken 2 days off each week)
Maybe you just need to have some repair in between the exercise?
Don`t give up0
