Well if you want to be a "clean eater" then you fail. But by all normal metrics there is nothing to be guilty about.0

Food shouldn't make you feel guilty. That's an issue right there in and of itself. You need to develop a better relationship with food; there is no such thing as good or bad food...just food. Yes, certain foods are more nutrient dense than others but it's all fuel. Nothing inherently wrong with fried chicken...that's some good protein right there and so long as you're not stuffing yourself with deep fried goodies on a daily basis, it's really not a big deal.
Also, over on your calorie goal...again...so what. My guess is you're on a rather unrealistic 1200 calorie plan to begin with...keep in mind that your calorie goal has a massive deficit from maintenance built in....like 800 to 1000 calories if you're doing 1200 calories. Going over by a couple hundred isn't a biggie.
Just calm down.

If you keep this up, you're heading for a slippery slope to orthorexia.

OP, consider counseling. Your rant revealing your panic over one meal is worrisome. As others have said, you don't sound like you have a good relationship with food and could possibly indicate disordered eating.0

This post is exactly why we should include all kinds of food in our daily diet in moderation. It ensures healthy relationship with food. When you go on a all "Clean" diet and restrict yourself too much, this feeling comes into picture. Food is meant to be enjoyed, so enjoy it whenever you can and burn it off0

I just got back from the Indiana State Fair. My lunch ended up being 2 fried Oreo and 1 fried cookie dough. Not exactly healthy, but it was soooo good. I would say I would do an extra workout tomorrow, but reality is I'm flying to New Orleans first thing in the morning for a week for work. NOLA is not exactly known for healthy food either, so that will be another challenge. I'm not stressing over the situation.
My goal in this journey is not to eliminate foods and have every single meal planned out for the rest of my life. I might as well live in a bubble. Nope, my goal is to learn how to control portion sizes, eat more fruits and vegetables, leaner meat and doing some sort of exercise the majority of the time. If I know I'm doing things right most of the time, then I can enjoy the unexpected things like Fried Oreos or go on a business trip with not great food or exercise choices.0 -

Seriously, it amazes me reading stuff on here about people panicking over what they ate for one day. It's almost as amazing as those who think that whatever they ate will show on their scale the very next day. Geez... If it's one meal on one day, it ain't gonna kill you. Heck, it might even give your metabolism a needed kick in the butt.0 -

Really? I mean, I thought the solution would be far more complicated and expensive. I'm glad it isn't, though, as I'm of little financial means...perhaps even what one would call "poor". Oh, but please don't misunderstand. I'm completely content and as such, am not in need of any sympathy.0 -

Well, you know, easy come, easy go, but sometimes it really is that easy. But whatever you do to try to escape reality, don't kill a man, because when you put a gun against their head and pull the trigger, not only are they dead but it also makes an unholy mess. Plus, "they" lock you up and throw away the key, so you've essentially thrown it all away. As in, your life. And it's hard to do the fandango in prison orange, you know.
Now give me fried chicken! (She says, as "One Vision" cues up on her playlist...except that since I'm vegan I don't really want fried chicken. Dilemma!)0 -
I never ever ever eat fried food. I would consider myself to be a rather clean eater and a conscious eater and food tracker. Today I went to an all-day concert and allowed myself to have a Mike's Hard Lemonade and a FRIED chicken slider, and now I am home and I realize that I am not only OVER my calories for the day, but I am also over them because of those two "dirty" foods. I almost want to just throw it up. :sad: :ohwell:I have NEVER EVER felt like this before.
Oh and I wasn't able to workout today, so that is just throwing fuel on the fire.
Let me put this into some perspective for you. So.. you had ONE bad meal. It is only ONE "bad" meal that doesn't sit well for you in a WHOLE LIFETIME of future meals. Think about how many that might be.. a tiny drop in the ocean. Don't beat yourself up. Pick your self up and move forward knowing that the next meal will be much more suited to your taste.
Drink lots of water. It will make you feel better too:)0 -
Oh no! Not a FRIED chicken slider! The inhumanity of it! Seriously if this is real it is ridiculous, I hate to sound mean, but come on its one day of going over and you make it sound like you ate 3000 calories. If there are people who really fret about little things like this it is really sad, like I actually really feel bad for them.
You do sound mean. Yes there are people out there like this. It is not ridiculous it is a perspective thing and this perspective can be difficult or some to change. It doesn't cost anything to be kind.0 -

Guilt should have nothing to do with your diet, unless your diet consists of things your roommate intended to eat. In that case maybe you should feel guilty regardless of how healthy said things were.

Remember that feeling for the next time, being over on your cals for day won't hurt you, actually you may be pleasantly surprised ... I have seen many posts where a good loss was always after a couple of high days.0

Sounds like the beginning of an eating disorder. You might want to take a break from tracking and seek counseling. That isn't a healthy or rational response to one day of indulgence.0 -

I went to a festival last night where there were tons of food trucks... I told myself that i should get the greek food since out of everything, a chicken pita is probably better than pulled pork or poutine or hot dogs... but you know what? I just really wanted some damn poutine! I eat chicken every day!
So I got the small poutine. 825 calories it sure was. Thankfully, I stayed within my goals for the day (obviously not the sodium) and other than a bit of a tummy ache after, it really wasn't the end of the world.
Sometimes you just have to have the damn poutine!0
