I've started going to my local fitness studio 3x a week.

Turbo Kick on tuesdays and Zumba on Thursdays and Saturdays.

How long should I wait to weigh myself again ?

I'd suggest measuring yourself rather than relying on the scales. I wish I had done that when I started using the gym/classes. My weight fluctuates a lot on the scales, but I can see myself in the mirror/clothing that my overall shape has changed.

I started my diet and exercise on July 1. This was after I had a rude awakening when I stepped on the scale at the doctor's office a week earlier.... it is now Aug 11 and I have not yet stepped on a scale since that fateful day at the doctor's office. I have lost weight, and am continuing to do so...but have decided to forego the scale for now. I have come to realize that I am setting myself up for failure by the numbers on the scale. In the past, if I didn't lose what I thought I lost during the week, I would be depressed all day...after a few days of "up a pound/down a pound" cycling, I'd figure why try? So this time, I am letting my clothes speak for my weight loss. I have a pair of jeans in my closet that I have not been able to wear in 3 years...when I can get into those jeans, I will step on the scale.

Personally, I weigh in once a week. At least officially. It's not a bad idea to get an idea of what is going on. Just don't freak, don't let the scale rule your life. I've gotten to the point now where I weigh myself once or twice a day, but always more for entertainment purposes only. More for *kitten*$ and grins. Can I guess my weight, sort of like a carnival barker. But the big judge is how you feel, how do your clothes feel, how do you look. Weighing isn't a bad thing. It's only bad if we become obsessed with it. Sort of like anything in life.

Thats amazing! I started July 1st as well and I am losing pounds as well. but my body is what is showing me what I am doing is working like you said when you fit those jeans you will weigh. I weigh once a week though but if I weigh in and I'm not where I should be I get depressed for a couple hours then realize that its water weight then I just drink more water. Keep up the good work! :)

I only weighed myself once every two weeks. Always weigh at the same time of day and use the same scale. This will give you a more reliable indication of your weight loss. Measurements are important too, especially when your weight loss starts to plateau. You may be gaining muscle at the same rate you are losing fat, which will make it seem as if you aren't making progress.

I agree completely. I was obsessing over the scale weighing myself multiple times a day. I still do I just don't officially record it until every seven days.
