Attack of the Evil Swelly Belly

So I decided to update my measurements. Weight had been up, and thankfully this week that i've gotten on here, it's gone back down. I've been moving in moderation since my surgery, trying to just hold on until my postop clearance for workouts, etc.

Well, most things were about the same or less, except all my ab/stomach areas. YIKES! Major swelly belly issues, which is not doing much for my self-esteem, etc.

I'm also  -- just seems to always happen when I'm starting out with a new diet or exercising.

Just feeling really down about the whole body image thing. it's one thing to be heavy and it's another to feel like you're six months pregnant sometimes from a surgery.

At least I made the "good choice" of having a can of light minestrone soup instead of the delivery pizza DH ordered. And, no cokes, which is my usual stand-by when sick.

Thanks for the vent!!!

Look at what your eating. Also what your drinking. Make sure no salts and artifical sweetners and milk can cause people to get bloated. Do not eat anyting processed or out of a box. SOup is full of salt. Water water water. Try drinking green tea and add a little lemon huice to your water that will help flush the system out and detox your body a little.Make sure your not eating foods with HFCS.

If the surgery you had was abdominal you will have the excess gas from the surgery for a bit until your body can absorb it. You will also have the inflamation (water) until your tissues heal up. Give it time. When you re start your workouts go easy so you don't damage any of the newly healed tissues or cause a hernia. Walking will help get the blood flowing and ease the bloated feeling.

    Good Luck!

I do need to increase my water, but I have been trying the lemon in water deal and I love it! You're right about the salt...still figured it was better than a couple giant slices of pizza.

    What is HFCS?

I do think that if it was salt bloating I'd see it in my fingers, ankles, toes, etc. This is very specific to my belly area. But I will work on looking at labels. I even got a water bottle that has a counter on it already so I can track how much water I've had :-)

Don't be so hard on yourself, NYIceQueen...you have several weeks of recovery ahead of you, so be gentle. Hope the surgery cures the cancer...my thoughts and prayers are with you. pat
