Hi, I had set up an account on here 1 year ago but never used it so over weekend been looking as really need to lose some of the extra weight I have gained.
I have been overweight for most of my life......chubby child, "puppyfat teenager" , overweight bride and so it went on . From May 2006 to September 2008 I lost 5.5 sts with a well known class and though at the time I felt I had learned how not to use food as a crutch over the past few years the weight has been creeping back on though as yet not back to the starting weight of 2006.
In between I have tried other regimes and classes and have lost some weight, stopped going and yes the weight has gone back on.
Am hoping this will work for me so any tips, encouragement and friends would be most welcome.
I am Chris, aged 57 and live in West Yorkshire.

Another British here, similar in age, plenty of practice at losing weight as well!!!
My main tip would be really look at it as a lifestyle permanent Way of Eating (WOE). Try to find a WOE that suits your metabolism and lifestyle, something you feel comfortable with. I am having some success with low carb/high fat (lc/hf), can't be doing with being hungry and always end up binging. It's quite scary increasing fat, as we are badgered from every direction to eat low fat! I really need to cut my carbs way down to under 50, and hopefully less than that. I am convinced it is carbs that cause excessive hunger and for some of us uncontrollable binging. Not saying this suits everybody or that it is easy but might be worth looking into if you like e.g. Cream, meat, fish, eggs, vegetables etc. There is lots of information on MFP plus you could research ketosis online! I am settling for a manageable WOE that results in fairly saiteted appetite and very slow but steady weight loss! There are lots of other plans that work for folk on here, have a look through the forums and groups. Good luck.0
