I am new here. I just joined to get myself in shape. I am a husband and father. I have two wonderful little girls. That have an over abundance of energy. I am tired of being a fat slob, or at least that is the way I feel about myself. I am setting a poor example for my family and I want to do something about it. Recently, the realization that if something happened, natural disaster or such. I am not sure how much I could help my family, because I am that out of shape. That has done two things, scared me and set a fire in my gut to do something about it. I am ready to make a change, in my eating and lifestyle. I could use some friends that will keep me motivated and accountable.

Hi! I was in your shoes about 2 months ago and completely understand where you are coming from. Before I started, my idea of veg was the lettuce you find on top of a burger and exercise was shifting place from one end of the couch to the other. Since then I have lost a healthy pound per week and am feeling brilliant. You will have your ups and downs throughout this process and it is all about making a mistake and picking yourself up from it. I would be more then happy to help you through this so please feel free to add me
Lets work together on the road to self esteem!
(Wow thats sounds soo cheesy :P)0 -

Welcome! I'm only 4 days in myself and have started to find help, inspiration and motivation on these community pages. Good for you for making a decision to do something about your situation. You have the power to change your life, as we all do. You CAN do it and you WILL do it. It won't be easy but nothing ever worthwhile is. You will have highs and lows, good days and bad but if you persist and you see it through you will get results - no matter how slowly they come.
I've joined MFP to get me back on track after a period of inactivity and wanting some motivation from like-minded people and so far it's working.
Good luck and keep us posted on how you're doing. Jo0 -

I am jumping back in after an on again/off again effort but ready to get serious about dropping weight and taking better care of myself. I am recommitting to this today! I have struggled my entire life with my weight and at least two times in my life have had dramatic weight loss (> 40 lbs) but slowly have regained. MFP is great but I really need accountability to make this work this time and will gladly reciprocate. Hoping that someone will be willing to help me do this!0

Handy to know, thanks.
Feel free to add me. I know how you feel when I first started exercising I could barely breath and at 19st and a 44in waist I had no energy to run after my son and later my daughter. I too am new here although I've come a longer way round. I've lost over 5st over about five years by cutting down on what I'm eating (one chicken steak instead of three) and exercising. I find though that I've hit a brick wall and cannot get past 14st 7lb even bouncing back up recently to 15st. So I've come to MFP to help lose another 1.5/ 2st and keep it down. I've lost 4lbs last week and am looking forward to see what I can loose this week.0 -

Add me. I joined in the spring because I looked at pictures of myself at a wedding I had attended and was shocked to see how unhealthy and old I looked. I've lost 33 lbs so far and feel so much better. I have set an initial goal to lose 100 lbs. and I'll see what I feel like doing after that. I also need motivation and encouragement at times, so we'll keep each others spirits up!0
