Exercise with a heart monitor

Hi, I use a heart monitor on my elliptical machine. It shows my calories burned as higher that myfitnesspal does for the same amount of time. Should I be making an adjustment to my exercise entry for this?

I use the numbers provided by my heart rate monitor. MFP uses a general formula based on height, weight, and sex while the HRM more accurately reflects how hard you worked
  • Thanks.

I'd use the lower number if you're eating back your exercise calories. HRM accuracy isn't all that it's cracked up to be.
  • Thanks. I agree. I have read that you want to subtract the amount of calories you would have burned doing nothing from the calories burned indicated on the heart monitor.
