Hello there! I was just wondering if any of you had ever tried Herbalife? If so, how did you like it?
I keep running into people that sell this stuff and have basically brushed them off. Well, I've met a lady who is now my friend (real-life friend not FB friend) that lost her husband last year and she is now selling this stuff as a way to make ends meet. I am tempted to buy from her just so it will help her out one way or another.
Please let me know your thoughts on the stuff. Thank you.

If your goal is to help her since she lost her husband, ask if she needs help with something around her house. Ask if she just needs a friend to talk to.0

I used it several years ago. As did my wife and parents. It works. But, it wasn't long after I stopped using it that I started gaining weight. But that will be the same way with any lifestyle change if you go back to your old habits. Having a protein shake twice a day was just not sustainable for me.
I might recommend just doing one shake per day rather than two.
Feel free to message me about it if you have other questions.0 -
I'm not opposed to Herbalife if you're doing it as a form of charity to help this woman, that's kind of sweet.
But, it's not going to help you from a weight loss standpoint.0 -
I prefer to apply the fire directly to my money

I use herbalife and it works for me. It works in combination with working out and eating healthy. As another poster mentioned, you have to be consistent.0
-
Yes, years ago, but after a few days, it made me really sick, so never again. I personally believe there is no quick fix, that a daily healthy good-nutritious, water drinking, exercise and tracking plan (MFP) will get you where you want to be.0
-
I love it. I lost 45 lbs last year using it. I am a single working mom and having to count calories and think about nutrition is a huge pain for me. This was a great solution for me personally. I added fruit or sometimes a tablespoon of Peanut Butter to certain flavors if I needed extra calories but I really enjoyed being on it. I am getting ready to place another order as I have taken a 6 month break. I havent gained all my weight back either so that is a good thing as well.0
-
I have also tried it and I only did the shake and vitamins for a month. I still continue to take their vitamins and other supplements though. I personally prefer to make me a veggie smoothie/juice in the morning. Like everything else, you just have to change your eating habits and eat healthier.0
-
I tried it a while back and it made be really sick. I felt like my heart was racing and I was very shaky. They tried to get me to sell it and the whole thing was very sketchy.
I feel like products like that are substainable. You need a proper diet and exercise for long term health and weight loss. Better to spend your money in the produce section.0 -
Love it. Lost 65lbs this year. Like anything though if you cannot stick to a plan then it is not the products fault.0

Do you want to, and can you afford to, do it for the rest of your life? If not, can you easily transition from it to doing something that can be done the rest of your life? In my experience EVERYTHING out there works -- it's just that I eventually get so sick of it and go back to the old ways. I like the QUICK but I can never manage the STICK with stuff like that.0

i am currently on 2 of those shakes a day and it does help. lost 31 pounds so far so no complaints0
-
I have been on it for almost 4 weeks and love it. . .no complaints. . .like another poster said, every diet works, its just a matter of whether the person on the diet likes that diet and can follow it. . .for lots of reasons I am finding this easy and for the first time and I not snacky and full. ..0

To those that were getting sick i would like to ask. How much water were you drinking? Was it when you took the vitamins? Did you take the vitamins with Food? I would also like to state that if you get sick or get a headache when you first start a weight loss program that is usually a sign that it IS WORKING. Our body stores toxins in fat cells. When we begin to access those cells for energy those toxins are released and unless you are drinking enough water or sweating them out they can make you feel sick. DRINK MORE WATER and flush them out. NEVER take a vitamin without some food in your stomach. Eating even a small apple or a few grapes when taking your vitamins helps the stomach breakdown the vitamins faster and to speed the digestion up. When you eat enzymes are created to help your body digest food rapidly. If you can get the vitamins in at the sames time you have much less of a chance of feeling ill because of the vitamins.
Side note: My mother has lost 60lbs on herbalife and my aunt is down as well!0 -
Thank you all for your replies. I do know that the best way to do it is the good old way as I had at one point lost 60lbs because I was tracking, eating healthier and working out practically on a daily basis. Life got in the way, I got lazy and got off track. I did gain some weight back...not all of it but I am now trying to get back on track...I've reset my ticker in hopes that it motivates me to see the double digit numbers yet again.
I thought that maybe a shake every once in a while when I was in a rush instead of going on a empty stomach would be ok...but I wouldn't make a habit out of it.
Thanks so much!0 -
If you only seek adding a shake here and there, go buy a good protein powder.
Really, no shake, no pill, no powder, no potion is going to make you lose weight, it's going to be the CALORIE DEFICIT. So it doesn't have to be that Herbalife 'stuff'.0 -
I am using Herbalife and loving it. Am almost at my target for the first time in years and very happy. I am spending no more on the powder than I would on food for lunch and breakfast but it is much easier to up your protein levels without increasing calories too much - it works for me0
-
I've been using it for nearly two weeks and I've lost 4lbs. I like it, the shakes are good and you can always add stuff to make them taste different. It's not -that- expensive if you take into account that one shake replaces a meal. But some people like it, some don't, but personally it seems to be working for me.0

THIS!! I have been using Herbalife products for over 2 1/2 years. Went from 187 to 164 in about 90 days and have maintained it since. As mentioned, it is a lifestyle change and the commitment to it. If you commit to change, then you'll do it! If you haven't, you will fail. The products will work you if you will work for you.0 -

Which toxins, exactly, are being stored and released from our fat cells? Just curious and, as a side note, I've lost 16 pounds and never felt sick. Are my fat cells doing it wrong?0 -

My mom did that. Lost 40 lbs. Gained 60. YMMV.0 -

I know someone that sells it down at the park. He's kinda shady, and his dreadlocks smell like dirt. He's really polite, though, and always has Funyuns.
But I don't touch that stuff - everyone knows it's a gateway diet.0 -

Your article specifically states there is no evidence that 'toxins' from our fat cells cause nausea or headaches, the very thing you tried to attribute to toxins. Not that I consider an article on some body building site, with no references or citations, an actual source of credible information one way or the other.0 -

You're right. Pesticides and other garbage could not possible attribute to health issues. As mentioned in the PM to you I will get you some well sourced science articles from the A4M and others.0
