Insanity Work-Out Input

I am writing to those who had or are still doing the insanity workout. Question - I have had four back surgeries and had both of my knees totally replaced. While I don't have any problems with either parts of my body now, I am looking into purchasing the Insanity Workout. Just checking for some input on this. Is this a program that I should look into, considering my previous problems, or stay away from it and just continue to do my usual exercise routine (biking, and walking), along with sensible diet.

I would consult with your doctor. Most of the workouts are filled with lots of jumping. If you feel like you can do it, I would pay careful attention to form.0

^^^ agreed. I never had a problem with my knees, but during the first two weeks my knees ached all the time. I had my boyfriend watch and make sure my form was correct..it wasn't. Now I focus on going slow, keeping correct form and they haven't been bothering me.

I would definatly consult your doctor, if you really really wana do it! see what s/he has to say, but i found mine didnt even know what i was talking about! i have a history of knee weakness from running. My doctor kinda shrugged and said he didnt see why not.
i have compleated insanity twice.....and it is no joke! if your form isnt perfect your gonna run into trouble.i had to stop and restart as the program doesnt explain form much (it expects you to already know, as it is designed for the already fit) so after going at it with bad form i put myself out for months with it. with time i learned proper from through google! then had at it, 7 months later i am over 50lbs lighter.
i personally would not recomend it purly on it high impact. there is a lot of jumping and the intensity isnt diled back at all
If i were you i would look into Focus T25. It is Shaun T's (the insanity guy.....huge fan here) new workout. its high intensity, but it has a modifer if you want to avoid jumping etc. It has got great reviews and has got great results. Also it is creating quite a storm among us Beachbody product users.
I am currently doing t25, it is by no means easy so dont feel as though you would be settling with it....but i think it would suit your medical profile better. Hope this helps and you are happy in whatever you decide.0 -
I agree with everyone else about consulting with a physician. It is possible to complete with prior injuries the link below is a guy that post all of his insanity workouts and in this clip it shows his x rays from a ankle injury prior (not sure of when). How long ago was your surgeries. I don't think you will be out of commission forever though. Copy and paste the url below . He is also a Beachbody coach

What they said.... Due to a genetic disorder the two large bones in my left foot fused together; this caused my inner tendon to do all of the work "controlling flexibility" in my foot on its own until one morning I woke up and it felt like someone hit me with a hammer around my ankle. I went to the doctor and the fused bones were discovered... I was in a boot for 4 months followed by 2 months of sneakers w/costume inserts in them. My doctor game me the all clear to workout during the 2 months in sneakers (Apr-May), I took it slow and listed to my body. During that time I did XTrain by www.cathe.com (90 day program) and took it slow adjusting as needed. I'm on week 1 of the 2nd month of Insanity, I have my sneakers w/inserts and take it slow. This entire time I've kept my foot doctor well informed.
My point is: I didn't let fear keep me from what I enjoy doing and that's working out, using intense workout programs. I rest when needed, adjust when needed, and most importantly I listen to my body. If my foot/ankle begin to tense up I walk it out and do low impact version of the workout.0
