too much protein for breakfast?

Hello,

My protein goal is 110 grams per day. It is easy for me to have a 2 scoop shake in the morning and get 50-60g of protein that way for breakfast. Is this okay? Pros/cons?

Thank you

I say no because you are missing out on a lot of nutrition that comes with eating real food. I have one scoop in the morning with 2 HB eggs and a sausage patty. I try to get in 100-110 grams per day so I aim for 25-30 grams with every meal and then the remainder is divided among snacks.

But if she's otherwise getting her nutrients throughout the day it's a mute point. I hit the gym early on Saturdays and Sunday so often, my "breakfast" consists of nothing more than a protein shake prior to my workout and a protein shake afterwards...maybe a piece of fruit...but I get my nutrition the rest of the day. Meal timing and nutrient timing is pretty immaterial and largely irrelevant unless you are strictly body building or training...then you might have some small edge in timing nutrients and meals.

It is fine. The funny thing is that most shakes are more balanced than sausage and eggs and the source of the nutrition is typically natural, just processed into the powder.
  • Shakes are easy for me because they are so cheap! Compared to greek yogurt. I don't like eggs or sausage so I dont eat those. I actually eat little to no meat, so shakes are are good alternative for me. I just dont want to drink them all day! One in the morning and I get half my protein out of the way
