1370 seems low. I'm 5'3, 128 pounds and my daily calorie goal is 1740. I used to eat around 1300, but MFP has taught me differently. I'm not an expert, but this is the gist of what I've learned so far:
Put your stats into the website below to find out your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure), which is how many calories you need to MAINTAIN your weight. Minus ~20% from that number to get the number of calories to lose weight and that should be your calorie goal.

Like I said, I also ate ~1300 before and burned a lot of cals but I had very little energy and was always so tired and hungry with such few calories. I've found this method to be a lot better for me. From experience, I know increasing calorie intake by a couple hundred is intimidating, so I went from 1300, to 1500, to 1740 and now I am never going back haha. Hope this helps! thanks for the tip!
i suppose yours is higher because you lift a lot though? currently i'm not burning an awful lot exercise wise!0 -
If you check out the website, you can pick your level of weekly exercise. If you don't exercise much at all, a few times a week, most days of the week, etc, ... and then your TDEE is based on that. 300 cals a day sounds like a lot more than lifting burns haha. Also it's only about 3-4x a week. I also calculated my calorie goal when I was doing Insanity which was more cardio-based and then just stuck with it when I switched to lifting... just increased my protein intake.0

You should net 1370cals0 -
I just calculated my TDEE. I exercise 6 days a week so according to the calculator I burn 2876cals. I wasn't even eating that many calories before my diet. The trouble with a TDEE calculator is you can't actually put in how you exercise, so how can it tell you how much you burn during exercise?0
