Hi,
I'm starting a strength training programme and my trainer said to eat something high in protein after a workout. I'm a vegetarian. He suggested chocolate milk, a shake, a protein bar.
However I try not to eat processed food (although i do on occasion) but this would mean eating something processed 3 times a week after training every week. I just don't see how this could be healthy??
Can anyone suggest a post workout snack that would tick the boxes of protein/carbs etc, but not be processed. I wouldn't mind having a choc milk or a bar once a week but definitely not 3 times.
Thanks in advance

In before people claim nuts are high protein foods.....
How about cheese? A cheese sammich fits the bill. Cottage cheese, greek yogurt, soynuts and raisins make a nice mix, kashi cereal (dry or with milk), an egg sandwich...0 -
i'm going to be the first of many to suggest peanut butter.
I eat it with an apple. The perfect snack.0 -
milk??
That's my go too post work out- milk + protein actually- vanilla with full fat/2% milk is beyond delicious.0 -
I like to have two vegan boca burgers or some scrambled eggs after my workouts. Both are fairly high in protein.0
