eating dinner for breakfast or.....

so I've decided to start eating my heaviest meal which is sometimes lunch or dinner at breakfast and then very light meals throughout the rest of the day.....anyone have any success of feedback on this

Have you ever hears of intermittent fasting? I'm not suggesting that you do it if you don't want to, just trying to make a point here. It's an adjusted eating schedule where you eat withing a certain timeframe, your "eating window" and then you fast. Fairly normal for women doing it is a 14 hr fast, and then 10 hr eating window, so if you, say, eat breakfast at 10am, then you stop eating by 8 pm. Your window can be whatever time you choose. Also common is 16-8, where you would eat from, say, 12pm-8pm.
My point in bringing this up, is that MOST people that practice this style of eating fast through breakfast and then eat their bigger meals later in the day. It tends to be more comfortable, so then you go to bed satiated. I know a few people who have tried having their window more focused around breakfast time, and have heard that the end of the day is really hard.
I'm not saying it won't work- as far as weight loss goes you can eat your calories whenever you like- just be careful of evening munchies when you're out of calories.0 -
i watched a documentary a while back about a woman that needed to lose weight. She got up early each morning and made a huge meal.. meats, taters, veg, gravy etc...the whole shebang... and ate it by 8am... then for lunch she would have a salad, or a light sandwich...dinner was a bowl of oatmeal, or fiber cereal etc... it worked for her.. she didnt have to calorie count..had whatever she wanted for breakfast (dinner)... and it worked for her... makes sense to me as you have all day long to burn the calories from the big meal in the am.0

When you eat your calories does not matter; eating at a deficit is what matters.
That being said, if you find you are hungrier in the mornings than the evenings, then eat more then and vice versa.0 -
Doesn't matter what time you eat which foods. Just stay under your calorie goal and you'll lose weight. I have always eaten the majority of my food in the evenings.0

Eat said calories whenever you want.
I ate breakfast- 2 eggs as a snack at noon- and at 7 PM I'm going to go eat like 1200 calories worth of all you can eat meat from a brazillian steak house.
And I'm going to be just fine.
Eat when you want- and what fits best into your schedule. Eating in the morning is hard for me... I used to not- started forcing myself- now I get sick if I don't. Your body adapts- mine is going back to NO BREAKFAST *kitten*. Because that's what I insist on... it sucks- but you're body is a tough adaptable cookie.
So eat when it works with your schedule.0 -
When you eat your calories does not matter. Eat all 2000 calories all at breakfast or all at dinner, you might notice some small changes off the bat in weight due to changing up the time you are eating but 3 months from now it will not matter and your results will be the same. The key is to create a calorie deficit EVERY SINGLE DAY so your body needs energy to function and must tap into your fat stores to do so. All of the other stuff is based on what your preferences are.
For me. I stopped eating breakfast except for my morning coffee and some crystal light. I like to eat a big lunch, that gets me through to my workout where I have a light something before, and then a nice protein smoothie afterwards. Then I have another meal just before bed time. That means I am eating about 60% of my calories in the last 4 or 5 hours before I go to sleep. Only make this change if you think its easier to meet your calorie goal this way.0 -
There's an old saying "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper." That sounds like what you'd be doing.0

I eat most of my calories early in the day. This is usually because I work out (lots of cardio) late in the day, around 5 usually. So in order to be fueled for my workout I must eat a lot earlier in the day. Plus I don't like going to bed or feeling very full in the evening. It feels gross to me.
Typically I eat between 60-70% of my calories by 3pm (this can be almost 2,000 calories and is often done in 3 or 4 small meals with a fairly large breakfast portion), do my workout (600-1200 calorie burn), then have dinner by 8 or 8:30 pm at the latest (usually several hundred calories and about the same size as my other meals).0 -
I was just asking about this to friends and MFP friends. I have read the same thing. I think it does make sense that it's all about calories in vs. calories out, and that doesn't depend on time. I also see the other side. I workout in the AM so I like to eat afterwards before work. If I don't eat a big meal I am starving by lunch. Lunch is always a salad for me. Today I had pasta for lunch and I feel TOO FULL! But I know that I have 6 hours to work it off and digest it. I think it's more about how the food makes you feel (full, tired) rather than the calorie breakdown and effects on your body. I would try it for a week and see how it goes. REPORT BACK!
