Hi all! I recently stopped my diet. I got so bored and I didn't feel like I had support. Apart of why I got so bored is because I hated eating salad every night. I'm now ready to start new and continue my journey.

The only problem is: I'm still bored with salad.

I have some amazing romaine hearts in my fridge, and I really want to utilize them. However, I am not finding many good recipes for them. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

    grill it

some oil and seasoning salt like you would with asparagus. works best with the inside leaves and keep the end attached so you can rotate easily.

In addition to others comments (I'm going to have to actually try that grilling thing)...you actually need more than just salad and veggies to have a healthy diet...you need fats and proteins. I have like 2 or 3 salads per week tops. Eat more than just salad.

Was thinking the same thing!!! Instead of using bread, I grab two big romaine lettuce pieces, cut slices of tomato, and add sliced turkey. Super quick and yummy!

Ugh salad. I've been trying to eat it occasionally, like 4 or 5 times this year so far. But grilled romaine sounds fantastic, have to try that!!

    Ranch dressing
  • i eat Romaine everyday with few exceptions, mostly for salads. But, Romaine is just the base of the salad, and I mix up what I add to the salad so I do not get bored. My favourite additions are spicy wontons and boiled eggs and olives. But you can add meats, nuts, fruits, and many other things to a salad.

If you're still bored with salads, you can use Romaine in smoothies if you have a good blender.

You can add to a sandwich or use in lieu of the bread.

Use it instead of cabbage in a slaw. Chop it up and saute it in a little olive oil. Chop it up and use it in a soup.

Now, as to salads. There no reason to eat the traditional tossed lettuce salad if you don't like them. We hardly ever have one but I include many vegetables in whatever we do eat. For cold, salad-like things, try a red cabbage slaw. A bag of spinach can easily be pulverized in the food processor and hidden in everything from a meatloaf to a smoothie. But cooked veggies are often just as good for you as raw so enjoy!
  • i throw it in a pan to sautee with a little yellow onion and some garlic salt. it's delicious. Reminds me of chinese food.

I once had the most delicious grilled romaine at a schmancy Italian restaurant. It had a lemon-walnut dressing. I still have dreams about it...
