Let me begin by saying I've always been a big guy. I always told myself that is just the way its going to be. I was happy, sorta confident, and enjoyed life (except the beach). I never watched what I ate. I was never really a sweets type of person but loved breads, pastas, cheese, you name it. I never ate breakfast therefore my first meal of the day was lunch, followed by a mid afternoon snack, dinner, and then a late night snack or should I say meal. I was the guy who would order an extra 5 piece of chicken nuggets just because. I hadn't weighed myself in years... remember I'm just a "big" guy and I've accepted it. One day out of the blue I stepped on the scale who knows why and it read 293!!! I will never forget that number. I can still see it staring back at me and smiling. It was that day I had to do something. I was 7 pounds shy of 300!!! Great movie btw. It was then that I stumbled across this site. This site is where it all started for me. I read other users success stories, viewed their photos, and read their motivational posts. I set my goals and began chipping away. I was for the first time consciously aware of what I was eating, sad I know. I told myself I wasn't going to do the crash diet, I wasn't going to give up after a few weeks this is going to be a lifestyle change... slow and steady wins the race. The first week I think I lost 5lbs without working out. I then began a minimal running program where I saw success but that eventually fizzled (FYI I HATE RUNNING). Another 5, followed by 3, 3, 2 etc. Chip chip chip... Hit the 20lb mark and kept on going. When I eventually got to around the 40lbs mark I hit a wall. No matter what I did I couldn't get under 250. OK this is where it stops and I can accept that. Remember Im just a big guy and I've already lost 40 lbs. For approx 3 or 4 months 250 is where it stopped. I maintained that weight for months until I stumbled across Crossfit and some diet I kept hearing people talk about called Paleo? What the heck is that all about? To wrap this all up... I started cross fit 3 to 4 times a week and now actively follow the "cave man diet" aka Paleo. After just 5 months I have lost another 32lbs as of today and gained a TON of muscle. I am in the best shape of my life and love it! Thats a total of 72 pounds lost and a ton of muscle gained! I look forward to crossfit everyday. Btw running isn't so bad anymore. It is never the same thing day after day. In the 5 months I've been going Im yet to do the same workout twice. I've set a goal to lose a total of 100lbs and WILL achieve this in the near future. Thank you Myfitnesspal.com for starting me in this journey. I hope this can also motivate whoever reads it. Thank you for reading.
