Please add me as well. I'm actually in a time crunch and trying not to freak. I'm 43 and just now wanting to try for a baby- serious procrastination issues obviously. I started with a BMI of 51 and am down to 44. Just finally started exercising 3 weeks ago and am making good progress with that. I was recently able to stop taking my blood pressure pill (was just on a small dose). I don't have diabetes. Was just dx'd hypothyroid, so started that med last week- need to get that under control first I know. No other issues with cholesterol, etc. Right now I eat an average of 1200 "clean" calories/day-1000 most days then about 2000 over the weekend to "carb cycle". I assume i ought to stop that pattern when i TTC? When I exercise (4 days/wk x35-45 min), I get my HR in the 150s. Ive ben taking prenatal vits and other necessary supplements for 3 mos now.
So I'm basically wondering when to start trying to conceive. Clearly it would be best to be at a lower BMI, but my chances of getting pregnant drop every month. Miscarriage rate is very high at my age. If I do get pregnant, I can't do anything to jeopardize that pregnancy by over exercising, poor nutrition, etc.. Would love some feedback. Thanks for reading0 -
I'm trying to lose weight now, but do want to have another child in the (near?) future. I'm a little worried about losing the weight now though and then putting it back on being pregnant though. lol Why are you doing that on purpose though? For health reasons?0

I would like to lose an additional 20 pounds before having a baby. The goal is by the end of the year so that we can start trying in January... great motivation to lose weight!!! I have lost 15 so far by excercising and watching what I eat on MFP and plan to keep doing the same.
I am also looking for friends in the same boat so that we can motivate each other! Please feel free to add me (and anyone else who is doing the same)0 -
So glad it's not just me! My friends think I'm nuts for wanting to lose before I get pregnant. Feel free to add me0

me too! add me if you like.0

Me too! I want to lose at least 10-15 before trying to become pregnant again, and generally get a good fitness regime going. The last time I was pregnant I was told its fine to continue an already established exercise routine, but its not a good idea to start a new one.
Always glad to see people trying to be better for their present or future kids!0 -
That would be me! Trying to lose about 50 lbs before we start trying for our 2nd
And I just started today, so I need tons of friends! So please, add away!0 -
I am hoping to lose another 50-60 pounds before I have my first child.
Def add me if you'd like.0 -

This is the first time I have ever responded to a thread on here so I hope I do it right! I lost 110 on my own (mostly low carb) and am now seeing how I feel doing carb cycling. I am "patiently" (HAHA!) waiting for my bf to give me a ring and am trying to use wedding and future babies as motivation to lose the next 60 pounds and become as healthy as possible. I struggle with emotional eating for sure and am super sensitive to sugar in any form. Would love to have some supportive friends on here for motivation so feel free to add me!!0

I've already lost about 50-60 lbs, but I'd like to lose 100 before I start to try - I at least want to be under 200 before getting prego. I'm 20lbs away from that. Hubs and I are talking about trying sometime next year.0

I'm in the same boat! Hoping to minimize the weight gain by dropping a few before getting pregnant. It looks like there are a lot of women doing the same on MFP! We need to start a group0

Hello. Similar to lots of you. I want to lose another 50lbs or so as a long term thing but want to drop 20 before starting a family. Hoping to be able to start early next year. I've sent some friend requests or please anyone add me if you like!
Good luck to everybody0 -
why hello We seem to be in the same situation about wanting to lose weight before becoming pregnant. We are starting to try for our first baby again and I am trying to lose at least 30 pounds so I can have a healthy pregnancy and of course get the cute little baby bump.0

I was trying to drop 25 pounds before IVF, and more if possible, and my IVF is next month! I'm not sure if being overweight has much to do with being infertile, but it does have an effect on carrying the baby to terms so I decided if I was serious than I needed o act as if I was -- so in June I got a personal trainer and started watching what I'm taking into my body. I have "unexplained" infertility, so they're basically saying it's because I'm over 37 and considered old.
I have a fatty liver, obesity and I have atrial fibrillation, too, so I've got quite the trifecta going on! I was "prediabetic" and my doctors put me on Metformin previously saying it would help with pregnancy. I quit that and decided diet and exercise will now be my medication. So far, it seems good.
Wish me luck!0 -
I was just starting to lose weight. My goal was to lose it all by my birthday in November. I just found out a week ago that i am pregnant. If all goes well, next year will have to be the pregnancy weight which I hope is not too much, plus the additional 20 pounds I was on my way to losing.
Btw, my husband and I were not going to start trying until next year, so this was a surprise for us.0 -
Hello Ladies, I'm not sure if this board is even active anymore but if it is I would like to join the conversation. I'm in my early 40s, in fertility treatment and trying to have a baby BUT want to loose about 15 - 18 lbs before my next try. I had surgery in early Feb and thus was advised to wait a couple of weeks before exercising. I'm ready to go to the gym and eat better so that I can be ready, fit and healthy. I wish everyone the best and let's stay in touch.0
