Then and Now, 6 years, yo yo....

Just wanted to share a bit of my story! My before picture, was six years ago, at almost my largest. Common sense told me how to eat, and I was able to lose some. But obviously, I had to buckle down and get things under control. I did...for about a year. With my diet, but only to an extent. I was on a really bad diet program that promoted eating what ever you wanted as long as you kept it within your calories for the day. So while I got thinner, I got weaker, and I sure didn't learn anything! So for the next several years up until about 9 months ago, I yo yo'd up and down the scale. Buffalo wings were still a weakness and ice cream was one of my best friends. I just didn't feel like I could stop. But something inside me snapped, I had to do something. By spirit was hurting because of what I was doing to my body. Finally, I had the will, and found the way. Through friends, awesome programs and superior nutrition. I've learned how to eat right. I've learned how to push myself physically, and I've learned that I am capable of great things. That we all are. I'm so excited to keep this life going!

Sorry, I tried! I've never had it where the direct link to the photo works, but doing {img}direct link{/img} (with square brackets instead of curly) doesn't.

looking good man, congrats on all your hard work.
i was intrigued by the quote above, I feel like I might be on the same path. where i eat whatever i want as long as i stay within my calorie goal. I'm cutting right now, since I am obese, but once i get to goal weight, i can just imagine the liberty i'll give myself by eating near maintenance.
I'll be the first to admit that before joining MFP, I had no idea how to lose weight. Like a lot of people I just assumed you had to starve yourself to lose weight, that turned out to be far from the truth.
do you have any pointers or other suggestions since I feel many on here might have the same mentally as the quote above?0 -

Honestly, I just eat good foods, mostly whole foods. I can't say that I NEVER EAT "junk food". Diet Coke and Buffalo Wings still get to me. But I have a lot less cravings these days with the supplements I take. I really don't hardly ever want the junk food. My wife and I are currently eating Paleo. Eggs, nuts, meats, veggies, and fruits. That's pretty well the extent of what we eat. But eating healthy grains is totally fine, just not for me.0 -
OMG! Such a beautiful and awesome difference! Such an inspiration!0

I was thinking about this on the way to work this morning and wanted to share. Check out the before picture. Ugh...wow...ok, guess what....I was working out 4 to 5 days a week at the gym as I was getting bigger. I was strong as a bull, but look at that. lol. You know how much time I have stepped foot in a gym since then? Maybe 10%, but probably closer to 5% of my time. The rest, was FOOD and working out AT HOME. And I can pump out 25 pullups in a set. My strong days....6. Proof is in the pudding.0
