Interesting...diet vs. exercise for weight loss...

I've read many times that diet is more significant to weight loss than exercise, but never quite "got it." I had it, however, slam me in the face the other day. I recently found a button on my HRM that tells me I have burned around 75,000 calories in exercise since I started losing weight. So that's 21-ish lbs. I've lost 74. The rest must be diet.
Very eye-opening.

calorie deficet aids in weight loss yes most significantly.
Exercise aids in loss of fat and inches.
If it's just for weight loss you never have to do exercise just eat in a calorie deficet...keep in mind it wont be just fat you loose but lean muscle mass as well.
Exercise especially weight resistence aids in keeping lean muscle and even building it which counters "weight" loss.
I prefer inches lost over weight.0 -
For me, finding the motivation to exercise is way easier than eating well. And often times, I'll exercise without worrying about what I eat. I NEVER lose weight that way. You can't out train a bad diet. Both are important but a healthy diet is the only fool proof way to lose weight.0

Eating at a deficient will get you there regarding weight loss but I like to exercise so I can eat more which helps me continue this in the long run. I have rest days where I'm starving so to me exercise is key for long term weight loss.0

Diet and calorie deficit is used for weight loss. Exercise is for fitness and body definition. You can't exercise away a poor diet!0

I exercise to be healthier, I count calories to lose weight.0

Yup. They say "You get fit in the gym. You lose weight in the kitchen."
But you still have to combine both. If you only change your eating habits, you'll lose weight, but you're body composition will remain the same. If you only exercise, the changes in your body size will take longer to appear.0 -
My trainer says that weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise.0

My trainer says that weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise.
That sounds just about right for the weight I've lost. 20 lbs from exercise, 54 from diet.0 -
The Pareto Principle - 80% of all effects comes from 20% of all causes.
20% of everything you do is responsible for 80% of your successes.
80% of your physical results will come from your nutrition.
20% of your physical results will come from your exercise.

I am the PERFECT example! I have been working with trainers for 4 years! I LOVE to exercise! I should be at my goal weight 5x over by now!! I would love a button to tell me how many pounds I should have lost from exercise! I would definitley be in NEGATIVE numbers!! I am FINALLY beginning to realize it is not my HOW-TO> I got that down! It is my WANT-TO! It is coming! I know I am going to get there!!
