If you are 5.5 what weight are you?

Hi there, I'm 5.5 and 60kg (132 pounds). Ideally I'd like to lose a little more weight but not sure what would be realistic. I tend to carry a bit more weight in my hips and thighs. So I was just wondering, if you are also 5.5 or there abouts, what do you weigh and/or what is your goal weight?
Cheers

  • Well, I'm 5'4" and I weigh about 154 currently.
Personally, I'd say maybe 125 at the very least? I'm aiming for 120-125 myself.

I'm 5"6 and 127 pounds but I have horrendous body fat % - so I look more like 140 pounds - especially my legs.

I am 5'5" tall. I weigh 180 now, aiming for 140 or maybe 135 goal weight. I am also 40 years old. I was once 135 in my 20's and I looked anorexic, so I think 140 is more realistic. I think it depends on your frame. I am large framed, but petite.

I am 5'5" and currently weigh 175.8, and my goal is 130. I think that will allow for the muscle mass I want to maintain. I hope to get my measurements down to where they were when I weighed about 120: about 37, 26, 37. Right now they are about 42, 36, 41. I think measurements are a better thing to watch than weight; they are your true size. Weight depends on so many varied factors. 130 on you is not necessarily going to look like 130 on someone else. Percent body fat is important too. If your percent body fat is at 16, assuming female, and you weigh 130, you are going to look toned and slim. But if its 30%, you may actually look slightly overweight at 130.

Hi, I'm 39 years old and 5'5. I currently weigh 137, but ideally I like to weigh 132 (your weight! lol) so now I am back on MFP for a couple of weeks. I find that I can maintain this realistically with exercise and without limiting myself eating too much.

I think that there is a range though. I am fairly muscular so I probably weigh more than I look. If you are not too muscular you could probably be 125 and still in a healthy range. I can't imagine that lower than 120 would be too healthy (or fun!), unless you have a very small bone frame.

You can always try to lose 5 pounds and see how it goes, keeping in mind that you don't want to get too obsessed with it. Good luck, I'm sure at 132 you look fabulous :-)

I think the goal is more to be healthy. My doctor told me that we need to work towards being healthy, having enough muscle to carry out our roles in life, and not have too much fat that can cause problems.

I am 5' 3" and currently my goal is 145. We have to pay extra for my health and life insurance. I am listed (according to them) as surgically obese and morbidly obese respectively. Out of curiosity, I asked some friends at work what they thought I weighed. These are people who usually guess others' weight withing 1-2 pounds. They all thought that I was about 132-135. The insurance companies want me to be down around 120-125. The last time I was 125, I was in 7th grade and NOT allowed to be an office aid to the school nurse because "you are so skinny you must be sickly." This was the view even though I had only missed school due to illness 5 days in the 4 years before and those were due to a severe case of chickenpox!

I would say, Just be healthy!

I'm 5'5". The British National Health Website (NHS) advises that a person who is is 5'5" should weigh 137lbs so that's what I'm aiming for. Have 7lbs to go and I think this will suit me. Although these last few pounds seem to be the hardest to lose. Good luck!

I am 5'5 and currently weighing in at 209. My goal weight to start is 150. Ultimately, I would like to slim down to 130 as that is the recommended weight for my height. After many years of being this heavy, I will be ridiculously happy to weigh in the 170's again!!

I'm about 5'6" was at about 165 at my heaviest, started MFP at 155 and want to be at 135. I'd be happy with 140 too if I went back up after my goal weight.

I was at about 125 once at the same height, and I was told by some people that I looked too skinny, so I don't want to be any lower than 130. I like being curvy and would rather be curvy and toned than just skinny.

I am 51, 5.5. I started at 251. I'm going to see how I feel at 140. I graduated high school and college at 118 but I had food issues and was obsessed with not gaining weight. Then it was about being noticed by the boys and being accepted.

Now it is about taking care of my health and being fit so I can enjoy life. If I do this, I can take care of my family and help others.

After marathon season is over will get back to lifting heavy and attempt a bulk. Looking to add about 5-7 lbs of muscle and reduce bf%.

Hi, I am 30 years old, 5'5", and mother to 5 children. My highest weight, when I gave birth to my 2nd child, was 225. I am currently below my original goal weight of 127, at 125. I started incorporating weights in February of this year and have loved the results! I have been fluctuating from 124 to 127 the last couple of months. But as long as I like how I look and can wear my clothes weight is not a big deal.
Oh yeah, I tend to carry all my extra around my hips & thighs.
  • 5'5 here, Currently 169 (was 178), goal to get to 135 via a mix of hiit, cardio, and some weight training, and then seriously tone up after that. Any body fat weight loss then is an added bonus.
