Advice - how do I get the most out of my Dietitian?

Hello!!

This is my first post :D

I recently was able to get a referral from my Doctor for a Dietitian. I was pretty excited about it, but when it was over I was feeling more uncertain.

I have been losing weight, but a good chunk of it was eating at the dreaded 1200 cal per day limit.. though truth be told it was probably more like 1200 -1400. I was losing weight consistently but began getting dizzy all day. So off to the Doctor for blood tests and to rule out anything serious. Come to find out, it is in fact the calories.. Also, I work out like 5-6 times a week (Body Revolution DVD's) Since then I have been slowly adding on calories and as soon I did the dizzy stuff stopped. (yea yea yea.... ;)

I don't eat junk food, drink soda. Nor do I follow any sort of diet that says to cut out anything major. I don't want to have to relearn how to eat again after I hit my goal weight. So I eat healthy and see it as a permanent life style change. After almost 3 years of therapy I have worked trough most of the emotional stuff and am able to control the over eating stuff that came along with it.
I asked to see a Dietitian because so far I have been doing this all on my own. I can't afford a gym membership nor a Trainer. And as I am sure you are all aware... there are a lot of opinions on how the best way to go about all this there is on the internet.
I want to do this in a healthy way, I don't want to hurt myself or make it all harder in the long run for some short run accomplishments.

So onto the appointment with the Dietitian... Here in Sweden the "Official Stance" on how to eat healthy is completely based on portion sizes. Half your plate should be veggies, 1/4 protein and 1/4 carbs. Fine, sounds easy... But she said I should stop counting calories and should instead do the portion thing. This is not going to happen... She also goes off the BMI scale and wanted to talk all about that.
I think she kept sliding in questions trying to get me to admit to eating loads of cakes and cookies all day... but I might be a little paranoid. But she did ask that a lot........
She did agree that 1200 a day was pretty low and instead shoot for 1500-1600. But that was, again, the standard "for all healthy women". (Scooby site says I should eat 1800 right now).
She of course wanted to talk about my feelings with food, and that was fine.

So here is my question(s).. How to I utilize this? Or even should I? I really do not agree with the not counting calories part. I believe in The Math and can clearly see that it is working. I have 60 more lbs to lose and really don't want to chance it. Nor do I care about my BMI number. I do a lot of weight lifting in the workouts and I know that I have lost more fat than the scale says as I have a crap ton more muscle than I did before.
I am suppose to see her in another 2 weeks. But at this point I don't know why if that makes sense. I want to be able to get some benefit out of it, but am unsure how best to be proactive.

So any advice?

So thanks in advance!
