Skinny woman dies in gym? Evidence of VLCD?

There's a discussion going on under another topic about a skinny woman who died in a gym, the delay in calling 911, and the choice of whether to do CPR. Although there are many reasons that people of any size can experience heart failure, one that is not mentioned at all in the discussion is heart arrhythmia due to extreme dieting.

Very low calorie (800 or fewer) calorie-a-day diets have been linked to many deaths over the years. If you are considering a VLCD, for example the HCG diet, be sure you are being regularly monitored by a doctor to make sure you get sufficient nutrition to prevent heart arrhythmia or heart damage.

Do not try a very low calorie diet on your own!

Didn't know this was possible. Should post it in the other forum sections too.

Unless you are about to die because you are so obese, very low calorie diets are completely asinine. They don't teach you how to eat properly on the way down, so it's very likely that you gain all of the weight back once you reach your goal and go off the diet. They also cause high amounts of muscle loss, and are unhealthy in general. Why anybody who's already skinny would be on a VLCD is beyond me...
