    I am I am!! I'm confused, what's the 9/20 - 9/26 challenge? Are you doing weekly challenges?

No challenge! We create a new thread each week to encourage SAHM's that haven't seen our thread to join us!

Oh good! Thanks for creating a new thread that isn't a challenge! The challenges stress me out a little and I love going at my own pace. I do have a goal weight but don't need added stress. So this is awesome! And great idea!

    Welcome Blue!

Stacey- How is your little one? are her fingers ok? ((hugs)):flowerforyou: I can imagine how you must have felt when that happened to her. I get Larabars at the gorcerystore I go to. Most grocery stores have a place where they keep all of their bars like clif bars, etc.

Ok...can you believe this one...with my inches being lost.....I tried to put bras on Sat nite becuase hubby and I had a date night, and they were all to big!:blushing: I have never had that happen before. They were all 36C. I think I am turning into a 36B   :blushing: I am one of thos few women who are ok with that! I don't think hubby is though.

My goals for the day. Drink enough water! I have been kinda slacking on that. Bake 2 loaves of bread, load of laundry, wash some glass bottles....the list is growing....AHHH!

Welcome to the new comers! This is a great group of ladies.

Stacey~I hope that your daughter is okay and doing better. I hate it when the lil ones get hurt.

Nicole~how often do you make bread? Do you do it with a bread maker or "old fashioned" way? I love making bread. I have made a total of 12 loaves of bread in the last 3 days. I have a recipe that makes 6 loaves at one time. Of course the first batch was devoured by the family when it comes to homemade bread it does not last that long in this house.

Mom4christ~Sounds like a very busy weekend. Once you get started on canning it snowballs from there. It's nice when you have someone to talk to while you are doing it.

Agenda to clean the house and get ready for more canning. Apples should be ready in the next couple of weeks plus a neighbor said that I could have her grapes that she has so I will be making grape juice from it.

Welcome to the group, Carrie! I think that's so sweet that you are going to get married in a courthouse and then have a big wedding and reception later. That's what The Man and I did, only instead of the courthouse, the justice of the peace was at the detention center....so we got married at the jail. (Insert your own 'ball and chain' joke here)

Stacey- Hope your daughter's fingers are doing better! It is so awful when the kids get hurt! :flowerforyou: About the hummus, what worked for me was putting just enough for a serving in one of the little kid's bowls, that way it didn't look so sad and lonely all by itself in a big mommy bowl. And eating out of the container...NOT the best option for me!

Nicole-the list never ends, does it?? And my sympathies to your hubby about your 'shrinkage'.

Katie~ More canning?? I wish you lived by me. We could totally rock that out.

I have a busy day today! I already did my grocery shopping (kept it just over $70, woo!) and went to the gym, now that the kids are down for naps, I need to clean the bathrooms, sweep, work on thank-you notes, clean out the fridge (yuck), and maybe make some bread...since everyone has been talking about homemade bread! :)

    Have a good one, girls!

Katie- I usually make bread once a week. And yes it is the old fashioned way! I don't have a bread maker. I make Gluten free bread that is totally awesome! Even die hard wheat eaters love the bread. I make 2 loaves a week. It never lasts more than a day. I need to get more bread pans so I can make 6 loaves at once. That would make life alot easier!

Home I agree, canning together would be fun! I can...not as much as I should. I think that will change next year when we will have our own garden. I wish I could have my gorcery bill at $70!!!!! I won't even tell you hwat my weekly grocery bill comes out to!:grumble: I don't envy you with the fridge detail!

SO I got my bottles washed, laundry is washed and hung out, and now I am off to bake the bread!

Home6~Yeah there will be more canning going on in my home here in the very near future. Good luck on your list of things to do! I so wish that I had that grocery bill. I am lucky if I get out with $100 and that is really being "skimpy" but I do have a large family. That is why I want to can so much is to help with the cost of groceries.

Nicole~I forgot to say earlier that I wish that I had that problem of the bra falling off! So does the hubby. He says anything more than a handful is just a waste:laugh: :blushing: My sister says that I shouldn't give up hope. As for your hubby not being happy that is when you tell him that you would be glad to have him carry them around for you! I told mine that I don't want the back aches associated with it. There are not many that make bread with out a bread maker any more. I use my kitchen aide to mix it up and then I knead the dough. I let the dough raise 3 x, 2 times in the bowl and 1 time in the pans. I lucked out with my bread pans my mom gave me four of hers that she never uses and I had some of my own so that helps. So what do you use to make the gluten free bread. I am always looking for new ways. Call me crazy but I like to challenge myself and I have been making bread for 8 years now so I have kind of perfected. It's a good thing that my hubby did not know what good homemade bread was like when I started. Otherwise he would have had to exercise patience until it got better.

I have not gotten a whole lot done from my list of things I needed to get done. But we all have those days sometimes. I better get going so I can help the daughter get her homework done.

thanks for the well wishes for dd. she is MUCH better today. gave her some motrin 2x. she is complaining that it sticks/is itchy, but we'll see the dr tomorrow afternoon and he can change the dressing.
so we otherwise got back to our regular routine.

we are studying FRANCE this week--cuz dd is obsessed with PARIS. idk why?? ( i don't give her my opinion of france's political system or socioeconomic or extreme anti-semitism .... just having fun with fancy nancy, french words, eiffel tower and the louvre). we'll go to the paris hotel on wednesday for a field trip. should be fun--espec as i'll let them get a treat at the patisserie! and maybe a trinket from gift shop.

it's fun having school be "relaxed." it lightens my mood too. :)

    gotta get dd1. later y'all!
  • Hi everyone! I'm new to the message boards but have been using MFP for a couple of weeks now. I seem to go through cycles of eating well and then starving and blowing right past my daily intake limit so I adjusted it all the way to only .5 a week and so far that seems better (at least I know what my absolute limit of intake can be.)

I'm a SAHM to two kids and a wife of almost 7 years. I enjoy running but unfortunately I enjoy sweets even more so I am working on that part since if I lower my weight running is a lot easier. Last year I got all the way to 138lbs and now am back up to 154lbs. It really doesn't work for me since none of my clothes fit well anymore. I'm not overweight but I'm not happy with where I am currently at.

I used to do WW but being on a budget I'm hoping that MFP will work for me and if I stay active on the boards, I can get support I need.
  • Hello Ladies,

You 've all been so busy! Canning, bread making, AND working out and watching what you eat. You all have much to be proud of (and make me look like a slacker lol.)
I have made it to the gym a few times a week for the past two weeks and I'm pleased with that. Now I must curb the sugar. That is easier said than done. The sugar beast within rises up ferociously when I have allowed it to be fed. It's time to tame it into submission again. My goals for the week are to get to the gym at least 4 times and to keep cutting down on the sugar daily. I also need stay under on cals and boost up the water intake.
We've been so busy lately w/ homeschooling starting back up and the kids and I have such an affinity for cooking and baking as the weather cools down. I've not been as good as I should be but not as bad as I used to be.
On a positive note, I don't have one pair of jeans that fit b/c they are all too big. I am excited to get some new ones and hoping to set aside a few hours to get to the goodwill and be able to try lots on, looking for that perfect fit
Nicole- I feel your pain w/ the bra situation. I have been in denial but I simply don't fill out my bras like I used to. I wish they weren't so expensive! I need new sports bras and regular bras. I jokingly said on FB a while back. Too bad the weighloss fairy doesn't leave a dollar for each lb we lose, then we could afford to buy the new clothes we need
    Have a great week everyone!

Melissa~I have not had time to exercise like I would like to. So please don't feel like you are slacking. The most I have been able to do is walk to pick up my daughter from school and that was only 2 times last week.

Welcome Jennifer this is a great group of ladies! It has helped me stay sane.

    Thanks Nicole and Katie.

This week, my plan is to go walk the riverwalk, its 2.5 miles. Planning on walking it at least 2-3 times, twice with a friend and once with the hubby. He works 3rd shift, so the only time we get to workout together is Saturday and Sunday afternoon/evening.

When I first began MFP, I needed to lose 92 lbs and so far I've lost 44, getting closer to my goal.

    Good luck everyone!

G'night, off to bed I go.

    from a blog

    crazy funny!

Dear Ridiculously Skinny Girl at the Gym,

Congratulations at being ridiculously skinny! Really, I'm thrilled for you. I just want to let you know that we can all tell you are ridiculously skinny just by seeing you in your short shorts and skimpy tank top. Therefore, it is not necessary to remove said tank top in the middle of aerobics class and complete the class in your sports bra. However, thank you for standing front and center so that the rest of us could see your abs. I did appreciate how last week, instead of removing your tank top completely, you folded it halfway up. That way you maintained your dignity while still allowing us to see your abs.
I will assume you are not a mother, since you are (a) ridiculously skinny, and (b) not wearing t-shirts with old breastmilk stains and holey gym shorts like the rest of us. So thank you for still taking the aerobics classes at 10 AM with all of the moms, and reminding us what we could look like if not for our saggy boobs, stretched out belly buttons, and stretch marks. I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow, as I assume that's where your scantily clad self will be. I'll be the one in the back with the mismatched socks and shorts that are rolled up sixteen times because I wore them when I was pregnant and stretched the elastic past it's maximum.

    Love,
    Me (the blogger)

    barb--that's quite an accomplishment!

i'm listening to hubby do plyometrics (p90x) while i think about how to sneak a cookie....

    best be getting to bed.
nice to hear from you melissa! you might try a bali outlet store (or their website??). they have bras for $14.

i want my boobs smaller--but rt now they are mondo large-o b/c of fat. did i ever mention i had a breast reduxn when i was 18? i can only imagine how humongous they would be!!! (then i only weighed 112...and now......ugh)

going to read and sleep. walk tomorrow. for sure.
  • Ok, I am tired just reading how busy everyone has been, I need to get motivated! We have our house on the market but it is no where near ready to show! I need to clean closets and do laundry today. Tomorrow is going to be the nicest day of the week so I thought I would take the kids outside and get the flower beds weeded and cut back. It is a bit early but they are a bit over grown this year.

I love making bread. I have a bread maker that just sits in the closet because I enjoy the process of doing it by hand. I started making pasta last year as well. It doesn't really save any money but boy does it taste yummy! My project for this winter is to get enough noodles in the freezer to last through summer. I also want to make cinnamon rolls for the freezer. The kids love being able to toss a roll in the toaster oven when they get up and having a fresh hot roll to take for breakfast!

I am hoping and praying I lose cup sizes as I loose weight but I am not really counting on it. I have lost 20 lb since the last baby and am still a 38DDD. Dh has agreed that if I am still larger than a D when I hit my goal weight we will save for a reduction. I hate being so large, it is uncomfortable and bras are crazy expensive. I am living with 2:blushing: right now becasue I refuse to spend the money until I am in a smaller size.

Ok I have to get to work or this house will never sell! Anyone want a house less than 40 min from St. Louis? lol

Stacy-where did you get your little walking guy at? That is too cute!

My friend and I got our 2.5 mile walk in this morning and usually takes us about 55 mins and today we got it done in 50 mins. Funny thing is, we walked the same pace with her 4 year old and my baby in his stroller....

We are hoping to do it again on Thursday, but we will see how the weather holds out for us. Hubby and I are planning on walking it both Saturday and Sunday afternoon/evening, so for me if I get all 4 days, that'll be 10 miles in a week :-D

Well, I'm off to eat some lunch, hubby brought home subway :-D Yummy!!!

See ya later tonight to check in ;)

Stacey~ Thanks for sharing the blog with us! Made me laugh, I needed it. Man cookies are my enemy too! I just can't have them in the house otherwise I eat them all up. :grumble: My husband has told me that I need a reduction (he doesn't want me to end up with back problems) but I don't want to do it that way if I can avoid it.

Mom4Christ~Well you motivated me to get outside and do some much needed yard work! I ended up shoveling up the pine needles to get ready to get rid of the pine tree. We are wanting to plant fruit trees in that area so we got to get it ready for next year to plant those trees. Hey a don't feel bad we all have our days that we just don't want to do much. Aren't we entitled to it with everything that we do for our families?! My sister told me to do peck exercise and that should help but I haven't tried that out. She went from a 36C to a 34B. She said she is actually too small for the B but too big for a A. Shoot I was a 36c in high school with having babies I went up to a 38d but now I am a 38c. Good luck with house selling.

Bluerose~Way to go on the walking! I hope that you make your 10 miles this week.

Well today I went to go check out those grapes. I will be either going to get them either tomorrow or Thursday. Also my friend was taking about how she wanted to buy some tomatoes and peppers from farmers to make some salsa. I found a place that is inexpensive so either this week or next we will be going up there to get some more. Hopefully this time around I will have some company/help with doing it. Well I am getting tired, night!

I found this blog last night but wasn't able to write anything. So now that i have more time...

staceyw37 - I loved reading the Skinny Girl at the gym... I had a good laugh!

I want to introduce myself. I am a SAHM of three. I have two daughters, 6, 4 and a son, 3. I have been struggling with my weight all of my life - or so it seems! So if you are interested in having a supportive friend, add me! I could use motivation and accountability and I can return the favor to you!

    Have a great night!

    welcome ckonner!

and glad you all enjoyed the chuckle! it's good to be able to laugh at ourselves!

did NOT get the walk in today. up by 6:45 w/kids and just no time.
i was at derm w/dd2 for ME--getting annual skin chk and having nose and lip zapped b/c of preCancerous spots. (areas that just peel again and again, no healing.) i've had it on my nose before but this was the first time for my lip. just need to stay on top of it, espec living in LV.

later this afternoon--took dd2 to dr for re-dressing her fingers. poor baby was in such pain anytime the gauze just barely touched her nail beds. :(
and poor mommy---idk, this time i just cdn't take it and i was screaming for help as i was goin down down down.
the dr came back in the room with nurse and i slunk to the floor w/my head in my lap, ears ringing, sweat pouring down....and my little trouper was comforted by the nurse while mommy recovered.
nothing was more gruesome than when we went to the ER, but for whatever reason today, my body decided fainting was an appropriate choice. go figure!
in any case, her fingers are re-wrapped and she was in great spirits the remainder of the day. we will need to see a hand dr/plastic surgeon on friday, the pediatrician said. great.

and ds went to PREK today! he was only there for 3 hours, but he said it was fun. he was happy when i left him and when i picked him up and no potty accidents. hooray!
silly goose has taken to peeing outside in the grass--just pulls off his undies and does his business. boys are such goofballs!

so for you chicas who got your exercise in today and more---BRAVO!!

wish me luck for tomorrow. just the field trip in the AM so plan to walk (w/Leslie Sansone) in afternoon before dd1 is done with school. :)

who asked for the ticker guy??

    here's the link

    http://www.andfam.net/kim/tickerpicker.html

and re: boob reduxn--was sooo worth it to me. i was a 32DD, weighed 112ish and HATED them. and bras were expensive then too! i was always so self-conscious of them.
my mom had hers reduced a cpl years ago and kicks herself for not having done it sooner.
sometimes insurance will cover it b/c of back issues. it depends on your plan, of course, and how many # are taken off. hth

    Welcome Ckonner!

Stacey~Oh man I hate it when the kids get hurt like that! My oldest had to get staples in his head last October. I am glad that I didn't have to go with him to do it. The hubby went, he said he did great he even laughed when they were stapling it. Go figure! I would have been bawling like a lil baby! The worst part for him was when the cleaned it. :( Anyways I really hope that your lil one doesn't have to go through too much more pain. Also hope that you can keep on top of the precancerous spots. Way to go on the loss!

Anyways today is just one of those days that I wish I could just crawl back into bed and sleep through it all! :( Just keep telling myself that it will all get better. I got to go the kids are going NUTS!

Hey ladies! I've been such a slacker with tracking and getting on here! But I have kept up workouts and training for my half marathon :) (Nov 6th) My goal is to get back here to log every day, and now with Alex in preschool, it makes things a little easier. Sorry I haven't been around! How have you all been? We are enjoying our new duty station tremendously! I've met some really great girls already, and I am helping a couple of them get started with the C25K program! :) Other than that, just busy seeing all the sites here and visiting family since we are actually less than 8 hours away for once! I've gained a few pounds back, but clothes are still fitting, so that's good...just need to curb my need for chocolate and late night munching!

Good afternoon, y'all! I have such good news for you, I am 0.1 pound away from being a 'normal' BMI!:drinker: Even with the 2 oatmeal cranraisin cookies I ate yesterday...I packed up the rest, along with the orange-almond biscotti, and shipped it off to South Korea.

And I made my next mini-goal, so after payday I'm going to go get some flowers. That's one good thing about it still being SOOOO bloody hot here, I can still plant flowers.

Not doing a lot today, since "The Biggest Loser" is up on Hulu (and not a week later, yay!). I'm watching that while the girls are down for naps, and pinning together quilt squares. Then I hear a voice, and a knock at the door. It's the bug guy, the one that is being paid for by the owner of the house! The one that I didn't know about! So I've been paying another bug guy for no reason. I'm a little miffed. :grumble:
