How to keep a healthy lifestyle going in college?

Hi everyone,

I am moving away to university in 2 weeks. I have really been taking this weight loss journey seriously and have been eating as healthy as possible (except for a few treats and "cheat" days here and there) and have felt great about what I have been doing.

I will be living in dorms, so I will have a small mini fridge in my room. But for the bulk of my meals, I will have to eat at the cafeteria which makes me think "dear god....". Any tips? I am pretty sure they will have healthy options, but it is so hard to tell when someone else has cooked your food! I don't drink that much, maybe once a weekend - but I can budget that into my calories.

Any tips on how to stay healthy at the cafeteria? What about late nights studying?

Prepackage veggies and fruit for snacks, especially for studying. Helps keep you from eating junk food while studying.

Most Universities have really nice gyms. Use it. Try to pick the healthy things as often as possible but don't obsess about it. Don't drink too much. Don't snack mindlessly while studying. Walk to all your classes.

Hi! I'm a junior in college. A couple of tips that have helped me.

See if you can find your cafeteria's nutrition online. I know that if I go to my dining services web page, I can get all of the nutritional information for the whole week.

You probably have a course schedule worked out. Find out where your nearest school gym is and when it is open, and schedule your gym time into your course schedule.

If you go to a bigger college (Mine is super small), you may be able to find a fitness or health club with other students who are passionate about healthy living. See what you can find and when they meet.

And, of course, keep your healthy snacks in your mini fridge. :) Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions you have about college life!
