Well, I had a bit of a health scare so now it is time for me to shape up and start taking care of myself. I really want to do it this time. Everyone tells me that I need to write everything down that I eat so that is what I am going to do. I am loving this website and I am hoping that it will help me.

Welcome :) This site is absolutely wonderful - it is very important to log everything that goes into your mouth (the weekends are the toughest - I tend to slip up - but I am working on improving) And to eat back your exercise calories :)

Good Luck with your journey - you've come to the right place

For the first 6 months I was on MFP I didn't lose a lot of weight, I tracked every morsel and was very dedicated to logging in, but had a hard time changing my habits.
I think it took me that time to discover why I was in the place I was, what things prompted me to overeat, or starve, or choose unhealthy things. This time was my time to really look inside myself to find the root cause. I learned more about myself from this period, and my bad days and bad choices than I thought possible.
Only after this could I understand how to tackle my obstacles and how to overcome them. This is an emotional journey that you need to travel with your eyes wide open.
Since May I've buckled down and become dedicated to my health and have lost 35 pounds in 4 months. Im 1/2 way to my goal but know that I will get there because I know who I am now, and what to do to continue in my healthy lifestyle.
I feel like a different person now, not because of my weight loss, but I feel different on the inside because I was able to look within myself to figure out my own "baggage".
I admit it . . . Im in love with MFP!
