What type of whey protein powder do you use for shakes?

I bought cheap $10 pure protein whey protein powder (vanilla cream and chocolate). I mixed the vanilla with unsweetened almond milk and ice today, and BLEH! it was disgusting. It had the weirdest taste every. Not sure if it was the almond milk or the powder. I've used the almond milk before in fruit smoothies and liked it.
Anyone know of any fairly priced whey protein powders that taste good?
Anyone have a good recipe for a protein shake/smoothie?

The Kaizen whey isolate I got at Costco, in Vanilla Ice Cream flavour, is delicious!0

Make sure to use a blender. If you're doing chocolate, and like coffee, add instant coffee for a nice mocha shake!
As for brand, I use muscle milk when I'm cycling off creatine. I like the taste the best, but everyone is different.0 -

I just grabbed some muscle milk chocolate from costco. I think it's pretty tasty with just water and ice. Kind of tastes like a slim fast0

I think well of the Muscletech brand of whey protein powder, mixed with skim milk. I buy it at Sam's Club. It's about $35 for a 5-pound bag, which lasts a long time (months). I use the chocolate flavor, but there's a vanilla as well, which I haven't tried.0

I tried a vegan one from About Time...GROSS! I have also tried their whey ones and they are OK. I just bought my tried and true Optimum Nutrition in Royal Double CHocolate or something along those lines...it is great with just plain water or in a smoothie/shake etc. I have heard GREAT things about cellucor but I can't spend anymore money on protein powder right now!
Oh and don't go for cheap you want a mixture of more whey isolate and then plain whey. Lower cost protein powders have a lot of other crap mixed in0 -

I use matrix nutrition anabolic (chocolate) and whey (vanilla). They mix well, taste ok on their own, and price/ingrediant wise are comparably to some of the more expensive things out there. As to flavours, well I only add water for the liquid, but do blend in various fruits like blueberries, strawberries etc. Also use a lot of herbs and spices like mint or ginger, aniseed to flavour the water. (Boil some water, stick whatever herbs, spices in, leave to cool, refrigerate, use for next day or two ) Lemons, oranges or limes work well to flavour water too. Also makes refreshing healthy flavoured drinks if you dont add the protein powder. Used to love adding coffee as suggested above but now am off coffee completely so thats a no no for me now0

Body Fortress (I find it at Walmart in the pharmacy section). It also has amino acids. Love the vanilla and strawberry flavors. Chocolate is okay. But, it's about $18, not $10. If you want to try using up what you have now, add some fruit to your shake. A couple of strawberries, blueberries, or 1/2 a banana will add a lot of flavor.0

I'll have to try that after I use this stuff up. I just saw it in the grocery and thought I'd try it. I don't mind spending $18 even $30 for a tub that'll last a month. Just not much more than that cause I'm a broke college kid haha0 -
Syntrax Nectar either taste like what they are supposed to or taste of the generic flavour of when something is called that flavour.0

We have chocolate pure protein , I use it with organic ff milk, and put berries in it. Taste great. Almond milk has a strange taste, Whenever Ive tried using it with cereal, I could never finish. Try it with a different milk.0

I like the Syntrax Nectar Vanilla Bean Torte and Chocolate Truffle flavors. I also like Big Train's Fit Frappe Mocha protein powder. I typically have a scoop of either Syntrax Nectar flavor, a scoop of the Fit Frappe, and 8 ounces of light soy milk for breakfast. I also toss in some spinach leaves and baby carrots plus some kind of frozen fruit. If I need to, I'll add a little water.0

I like Bob's Red Mill Whey Protein Concentrate for smoothies. It blends well, and you can flavor it however you want. I got it on Amazon, but I think you can also get it at Trader Joe's.0
