Running App for Pacing--Recommendations?

I have been running for a little over a year now. I started with C25K and eventually worked my way up to running 5 miles, then a 10K. Last year I entered my first half marathon, admittedly without enough training, or the right training, and ended up walking most of the race. I realized that one of my problems is my pacing. I use the free version of Endomondo to track miles and pace, but the free version doesn't cue me about my pace during the run. I suck at pacing myself, even with a HRM to monitor my effort, so I tried a new app this week. It's called Gipis. I think it helped, but I still ran way too fast for my training run today. I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation for other pacing apps that may be better, or if anyone is familiar with Gipis and can give me some feedback on whether it's been helpful or not.

Thanks in advance for the information!

I'm not familiar with the ones you mentioned; I just use Runmeter to keep track of my pace and really like it.

I just tried RunKeeper. It calls out your distance and pace every 5 minutes. I used it on a hike recently and was amazed how cool the map it generated was.

Thanks for the info. I've heard of that app, but I'm not familiar with it. Will RunKeeper let you set a goal pace in advance?

Thanks! I'm not familiar with Runmeter. Does it allow you to set the goal pace in advance?

Thanks! I've heard of Runtastic. Is the "Pro" a different version? Do you know if you can set a goal pace in advance?

Runkeeper, Runtastic, Endomondo and MapMyRun are all good options.

I recommend trying out the free version of several apps to see which works best for you!
